To say the energy went down after Tiesto is a personal opinion. IMO DP was the most energizing set I've ever heard.

Good times though. When you're there it seems like it will last forever. Then its over and you ask yourself... where did the day go? Don't you hate that feeling?

cool, ur position makes a lot more sense being that u left after the first half hour, because it did indeed sucked. i thought daft punk was a really good show, musically they didnt blow me out of the water, but the PRODUCTION was out of hand. i would have to say ENERGY/music wise underworld at ultra5 is almost without peer in my book, at least as far as outdoor festivals go. but as far as an overall show and production daft punk is second to none.

NO CMAY!!! I care! wow we got some bashing in the TA, where's the love? Mattivi...by the way...honestly you think DP was less energy! what were you in the middle of the crowd at Tiesto and waaaaaaaaaaaaay out in no where for daft?

NO HABS!!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE FOR BOTH!!!!! im not a basher just a smartass, ask around!!!!!! the crowd energy was great for daft punk, i just like the tracks better at tiesto, but the overall production was outta hand for DP

Posted by habs24-7 on Nov-16-2006 04:28:

its cool...i'm sure I am just biased too since I was really psyched for DP... I'm must admitt too, we could hear the energy from Tiesto at the house tent! I'll give you that much, other than that, I have no basis for comparison

yea i flew down with my brother to see daft punk
got to the gates at 1130 didnt open till after 12 danced the whole day sober never did that before lol, tiesto was nuts at times i got some good song vids on my phone left early to get a good starting spot for Daft Punk.
was front row for the first 20 minutes then moved around to see the light show better. Dam was i high on something truly something special live altering experience.

Stupid GA pissed me off he would build up the crowd then nothing i left early what a waste of time

but yea daft punk stole the show even though i was expecting the preformance i was speechless after

i really had no expectations for tiesto since i think hes garbage but his set at times was amazing but 95% of his songs arent worth my time

Overall worth the trip to see daft punks last preformace of that kind this year, cant wait to see what they come up with next!

daft punk was cool, but it was more all the auxilliary stuff that went with the show that i thought was cool(er), ie the stage, the goggles, etc. personally music wise the energy was a step down from tiesto, but pretty damn good and funky. but then again what do i know, im a tiesto whore turned househead that is still a tiesto whore, so my opinion is obviously slanted. and plaese go lose hope in humanity nobody cares.

I guess I should clarify, I've seen him up here in Minneapolis. That show was fucking incredible. He really did a great set from the first track to the last. That put my standards higher for what I expect out of him (especially with all the hype c'mon!).

Yes, I admit I've indulged in Tiesto bashing on a few occasions, but that doesn't mean I'm so close minded that I won't give him a chance to prove me wrong. At BMF however, he didn't.

Very Nicely put!!!

I love Tiesto as much as the next person that can remember his roots. Tiesto was one of the first major names that I can remember in the EDM world. He will always have a special place in my heart. But lets be honest, was that his A game on Saturday?!? Not by a long shot!

I was excited to see Tiesto again. I have worn out my copy on ISOS 5 Disk 1. Hell he could have popped that CD in and hit play and I would have been happier with it then I am with his set on Saturday. The first 20 or 30 min, all I could do was stand there and think to myself, "Tiesto, what the fuck are you doing up there?!?" I had heard how bad he was in Atlanta the night before and was quickly realizing that this night would be close to the same. I had my hopes up that he would prove me wrong, but he really didn't! The crowd was amazing, the music was just sub-par. Lets be honest, I do not know what he has lost in his live sets, passion, love for performing, his mind, (take your pick) but he HAS lost something!

Be Cool!

arguing about tiesto is pointless, for some reason i engage in these circular arguments anyways. and if all u saw was the first 20-30 minutes and than left, than yes the set sucked, but go reread my previous post. time for class;

the thing is with international dj superstars like Tiesto, PVD, AVB, is that they TOUR CONSTANTLY. which means they play to the masses and play to newer fans ALL THE TIME, which means they HAVE to drop cheesey hits like Love Comes Again, Shiver, Crush, etc. because that is what the crowd wants to hear, who is not as in tune to EDM as me or you. the constant over touring also leads to the diluted set quality due to exhaustion, boredom, etc. this does not neccesarily mean that they suck or 'have lost it' compared to the past. hell the music now is much different than it was 5-6 years ago when Tiesto was just so awesome as some of you think.

anyone expecting to hear a mint set or "A-Game" set from tiesto in atlanta is either clueless or delusional. the only place where tiesto might play an "A-Game" set in north america was at space miami, or docks toronto in recent memory. he might play some good sets in other cities but nothing epic. the environment and the crowd have to be right for him to throw an "A Game" set, thats why almost every set he threw down at space miami was great, because it was experienced crowd of clubbers, a legendary club, and a great vibe. a club in atlanta, ohio, north carolina, tennessee, texas, is almost assuredly 75% trance virgens who want to hear the Just Be cheese tracks and Traffic as if those tracks are the paragon of EDM productions, when in actuallity they suck. u can often read on the tiesto forums, where legions of clueless noobs post they were mad when tijs didnt drop 'traffic or LCA' as if tiesto let them down. most of us diehard fans would be overjoyed he ditched those played out tunes for the nite, but not the noobs, which is who is playing for these days. most of his gigs are at new locations, cites, and venues=hi noob factor=sub par sets+the over touring.

not trying to come off as an arrogant prick, but some of you really dont look at all the angles. tiesto hasnt really lost it; the sound has changed, his crwod demographic has changed, and the venues has changed. basically tiesto is a victim of his own success, too big too fast. i really think he is returning back to form that he had before he won those 2nd and 3rd #1 awards. at least he is experimenting with new sounds which is refreshing, he is not stuck in the generic sounds of progtrance like AVB. well its been fun, but school is out kids

Sad to say that i missed my favorite trance dj other than Corsten but i feel as though i need to see him in a club not in festival mode. I have seen him more than 4 times which were some of the best trance sets that i have ever seen (pure energy)outside.I am just waiting for his return to Space which is immenant but probably not soon.I would have only braved the hot, stinky, sweaty, nasty peeps for Tiesto,Roger, and the Space residents (maybe Marcus)instead i stuck with football.

Point taken, I was excited to hear Tiesto drop some older stuff, it was a refreshing change of pace. I get sick of all the "EDM snobs" that put someone down for playing a classic track. The classics bring back memories and let you relive some good times.

My problem is that Tiesto's mixing sucks. His progression of tracks is sub par. Basically all the things I expect to be point on for a top DJ. Grant you, it is not nearly as bad as Oakenfolds last essential mix or anything, but worse then I expected. I was excited about the sound of ISOS 5, mainly disk 1, and wanted to hear a bit of that sound. I think there is no excuse for the first 30 min of Tiesto's set. Yes I stayed for the whole thing and yes it got better. But just like I expect my star baseball pitchers to bring their best EVERYTIME they step to the mound, I expect the same from my DJs. Too big too fast is an understatement. But instead of realizing what he needs to work on or what his fans are saying, Tiesto is just wrapped up in being Tiesto, the former #1 DJ in the world! Maybe he should stop designing the Tiesto line of shoes and start working on his beat matching and progression.

Just a thought!

its actually well documented that tiesto consider's himself a "risky mixer' and really isnt all that concerned with that faze of his game. he actually said its taken him longer to learn how to mix cd's but i think thats just an excuse. and i agree that his mixing could use some work, alot sometimes. at any rate, tiesto's forte' has always been track selection, nrg, and set structure(which might be the same as when you say set progression, i dont know). personaly to me not a lot of people can build a set like tiesto, at least WHEN ive seen him. thats the whole idea behind the 'magik journey' thats he's known for. ive seen tiesto 29 times since 2001 and ive clubbed for along time seen alot of great djs and sets of ALL genres. but for some reason i still hold tiesto sets ive seen the most dear.
to expect these dj's to bring their A game everytime is just plain unrealistic. i remember during his just be tour he had 21 gigs in 25days. now granted that him and his manager's fault for overbooking, but they are just trying to satisfy the growing demand for him and make all the fans happy, which is not good from a peformance standpoint.

persoannly i thought ISOS4=+5 both sucked , the mixing is absolutely inexcusable for a MIXtape, and the tracks were average at best, but to each their own. i think most can agree he's been putting out these last couple of albums for money and exposure. isos seris should be formated for only one disc. 'just be' was horrible in comparison to in my memory, but then again tiesto uses a sound engineer. but my big problem with tiesto lately is that he's too concerned with proliferating his popularity and becoming 'tiesto' the brand, "in concert pioneer/enertainer", instead of "DJ tiesto", the dj. ur defitnly right that he needs to focus more on djing, instead of trying to take over the music world and produce crappy pop hits in los angeles, and have his own fashion line. i swear i can see "Magik Wear" as his next endeavor, lol.

Posted by hiram on Nov-16-2006 19:23:

umm tiestos track selection and progression are the best out there IMO, his mixing is a different story. hit or miss at best. still a good DJ and made me dance my ass off this past sat.

anyways..... anyone have any sets???
