Well, here what is known:

1. he was asked to leave prior since he did not show a valid ID.

2. When the cops came back he was still there, but apparently on his way out.

now here is the determination if force was necessary: When the cops grabbed his arm (which they are allowed to do) the reaction of the student. If he resisted, then use they are authorzed to use force.

That's fucked up. I felt very sad watching that video.

I am surprised that Police are allowed to taser a guy just to get him to leave a library - he was unarmed and not really aggressive or violent towards them as far as I could tell. If they truly wanted to evict him from the library, why couldn't they just handcuff him and lead him out of there, old-school style?

more like everybody - or at least the wise ones - are individuals when they see something like this, rather than a society, obviously, this must be supressed .

the video is not clear show it doesn't show that force was being abused. He could not follow simple orders of "Stand Up" I'm sure the cops were aware of the other students around, i'm sure they followed procedure. Now if students don't know what that procdeure is, well its not the cops job to tell them. If the students want to find out...the hard way. I'm sure the cops will be happy to do it.

I hate how people diss cops, just because of the "injustice" on youtube. If that footage was on "Coolest Cops Takedown EVER!!" (i made that up) then it will all GREAT!

i hope you'll enjoy your dystopia.

How could you tell? Most of the video was just sounds! The shot of the student and the police were mostly blocked!

No, actually it quite the opposite. Its funny how people think they are above the law just because they are special. If this person was walking out quietly then got tazed thats one thing (even after they grabbed his arm.) If this guys started tripping out when they attempted to escort him out that's another. If a person standing by attempts to appoarch an officer while making an arrest, THE OFFICER DOES NOT KNOW THE INTENTIONS OF THE INDIVIDUAL! They should give a verbal order to back away, if the person fails to comply then game on.

Now if its true that an officer stated to a student that they will taze her if they ask for his badge number, then that is a vaild complaint.

If I get hit, so be it. There will be at least 15 others who'll have my back if they see someone take charge.

Tough words from behind a keyboard, hahaha...

But seriously, I do not know when things changed...perhaps, at the root of it all, they truly haven't. Seems logical to believe that there have always been those in power and those underneath the authority who are helpless to resist...

Seems a sad human condition to me. I can see how some people are comfortable with it though - it favours them. So when does it end? Death? Even in death, are we to be judged by some higher authority for the sins against society in our previous life?

WTF are you talking about? You are taking an isolated incident by rented rogue security guards and making like someone is lurking around every corner...you should seek professional help....you have what is called paranoia.

Since laws came about.

You have a very linear mind. My comments were not at 'this police force' or 'that police force' - I am talking about the idea of an authoritative police force in general. Why does everyone have to explain things twice to you, anyways?

Dude, you are a 20 year old snot nose kid who knows shit. You are a typical college kid who thinks he knows everything.

You talk kinds of shit about the police in this thread, yet you would be the first to bitch about them if they werent around to help YOU. Everyone hates the police till they need them

And unjust law is no law at all.

Laws are established to serve the people and police exist to enforce laws so that order can be preserved and the people can be protected from those who disobey the laws - how was this person going to harm somebody by not having an identification on him? He may have been harming the law and nothing more (and even that is debatable) but how is that grounds for people to go in and seize somebody in a school with force? Seems ridiculous to me.

I anticipate your lawful, narrow-minded response and lots of rolleyes. In fact, I suspect that your presence here has already added an element of deep retardation to a thread that was otherwise full of reasonable, supported opinion. Not even Googooly managed to ruin this thread. Welcome.

I agree. The force used was uncalled for. Maybe one tazer if that..the kid was skinny enough for those cops to pick him up and carry him away, which is what they SHOULD of done.

People really have forgotten the serve and protect attitude. It really makes me sad. My blood bubbles when I watch stuff like that.

Posted by wizniz on Nov-17-2006 03:31:

orbital: perhaps rather than chastise the police, we can work towards developing a more lenient police force so this isnt an issue.

People really ignore the other thousands of police officers that do serve and protect. Its like me seeing some e-tard rolling balls somewhere and thinking everyone on here has poop for brains.

the actions of these cops do not generalize to other cops...

If yes, to interfere in their duties, as wrong as it may seem at the time, is to ask for trouble. (and you're stuck with obstruction of justice or something like that)

If not, fucking bootfuck those shitpumps.

i don't know about ucla, but our campus police has the full authority over campus. firearms, authority to shoot in extreme cases, etc.

a guy was a dumbfuck, asking for trouble. was tasering over the line? absolutely. but if i were that sergeant, i would be fucking freaked by that voice, that is some screaming. "geeeet yourrrr haaaaandssss offff off meeee. freeeeeeeeeeeedoooooooom". is he from linkin park? those are the guys who have a very strict code of conduct, and at the end of the day, everyone should be thankful to them that they don't just sit on their asses but are actually making sure the fucking campus is secure. sometimes it means "false positives" like this one.

it is nice of you to sit by the keyboard and say "fuck the police". the reality is, when people know they are not right, they comply with the figure of authority (otherwise, i'm sorry, my friends, but those who don't are stupid fucks).

the bottom line is, you can be all smart-talking students at a liberal university and shit, but at the end the one with the gun with a legal authority to use it is the one who is really in control of the situation. i'm sorry for mohamed, but this will be a good lesson for him to comply in the first place in the future.
