i have heard of this plugin before but forget what its called. why would he use the redsound microsync (or the one)? the xone 3d has a built in midi clock to do all that just like the 92 and the djm800

this is debated some dont believe the plugin exists but ive heard of it before as well and forget the name...either way he has no need for redound or plugins like this anyways...the xone 3d has a built in midiclock just like the djm800 and xone 92...it can take any audio source running through the mixer and sync it to the digital midiclock signal. thus he doesnt need to run serato through ableton he just runs it through the xone 3d...i dont understand why it has to be some elaborate routing process...

all i want to know is what that mystery box is! and im aware that he has an ultralite there (probably since he's used up all the ins/outs on the xone's built in soundcard)...but im talking about the big box in the upper left side of the vanguard show pic. must be some sort of custom device but its so ambiguous

but if the tunes are good then....

thats what the big debate is...there have been a bunch of suggestions but all ahve been disproven so far...the guys at aldj think they got it figure out as well but no one has any conclusive evidence of what it does/is...im waiting on an email from vandit, vonyc and pvd's manager still...

Posted by DaveT on Nov-29-2006 20:35:

My guess is that it's just a box that's used to create loops? Just a big one for some reason. Maybe it was a request in his contract and all they could find to rent?

95% chance I'm wrong.

Dave

ignorance at its very best

Posted by Abhay on Nov-29-2006 23:29:

that's so freaking cool... even if he doesn't always use it, it's good to know that if he's in the mood and feeling creative he could use it.

I think that's actually very common, especially the use of really loud samples when they know they fucked the transition, and dropped the cued track at the wrong time...

plenty of new technology like this out there...

jazzmutant lemur for example, there's also a projection gui very similiar to the video posted...

And the 1200's or 1210's are sadly lacking..............

I'd have that set up but -1 laptop and +2 decks. I'd also drop the allen & heath mixer and use a pioneer DJM600.

Wow...

Anyways about the mystery box, When i watched the video of him playing at that gig on the xone site it lights up like a beat machine sequencer would...makes me think it is some sort of midi sequencer but who knows.

The box farthest to the right is a MOTU UltraLite. it is an audio interface.

I bet dollars to donuts Scratch and Ableton are synced through Midi.
last time I saw PVD, he was just getting into Final Scratch, I would love to hear him now with all the goodies.
