Not really directed at you Lisa as it was merely designed to provoke thought.
...in an attempt to illustrate my confusion with your "why should I have to" ideology.
Generic quiz:
A new man moves into your neighborhood. Sitting on your front porch (as you do every morning), you notice that the new neighbor is blind as he is walking with a white cane. Then, all of a sudden, the blind man trips on a raised crack in the side walk. He lurches forward and as he attempts to regain his footing, stomps right on one of your flowers planted at the edge of the sidewalk.
You see this every morning. Time and time again. To the point that your flowers are taking a real beating and is starting to bother you. As it appears as it's never going to stop you:
a: Scream out asshole every time, getting frustrated and unhappy.
b: Seeing the clear solution offer the blind man assistance.
c: Turn in disgust and say to your friends that "no blind people should be allowed to live on your street".
d: Put a small wire with a ribbon on it at the base of your garden and tell the blind man about it. So the next time he walks by, his cane hits the little warning and prompts him to step higher right there and not trip any more.

In that case are you better off paying by the hour instead of the job? Cause you might have had 27 minutes coming to you. For things like a back rub or something.

*yawn* Thread boredom has set in.
Nostrum's perpetual attempts to prove a (rather insignificant) point from 100 different directions is so tedious to read that frankly I've lost interest.
Be well.

Hey, it's my welcome thread.
Also, I find how people somehow feel forced to read things. Then when the don't like it, bitch. You knew where you were entering. We all know how you get around my posts, yet you still came in anyway. And were forced to read.,..? So obligated to bitch, just had to. But that's where the social responsibility ends?
Fascinating really. I have much to learn.
EDIT: You picked #1 didn't you....?

I see the point you're trying to make, too bad you're not a blind man - the blind man can't do anything about his situation, you can.

a blind man would learn from the incident. the next day, he would remember the bump in the road and take pains to either walk a different route or step higher. he cannot see. that doesn't affect his ability to remember or his ability to adapt to the situation. if he continues to trip and stomp in my lawn i would begin to assume that 1) there is more then just a sight problem here or 2) hes fucking stomping on my motherfucking flowers for fun

What I was referring to is posting two quotes in your post...not WITHIN each other like you just did. Sort of like what I did with your post and RJs.
I'll even show you again:
See how I've quoted you multiple times in the same post - but the quotes are not all within each other?
That way you're not posting 6 times in a row. It get's really annoying to read (one of the so-called "unwritten rules of TA" that you've told me there are - so there ya go, it's written for you). |

But this is wrong?
Edit: The differences are subtle if at all. If this is bad, why it makes other unhappy is beyond me [/QUOTE]
I don't even know what this means since you basically quoted what I said...yet not in an actual quote

Exactly. The differences are not subtle at all. If you nest them it makes it extremely hard to understand. And you wonder why people are having such a hard time figuring out what you're saying.
~Edit~
And to answer your little quiz. I pick D. I would put something out there to get his attention, and he would thus learn on his own that there is something he was doing wrong.
Basically what I'm doing for you. Letting you know that people are annoyed with the way you're quoting...and pointing you in the general direction, but expecting you to figure out how to fix things on your own b/c I'm assuming you're not an idiot.
P.S. OMG look what I did? I quoted 2 people in the same post and didn't nest. However did I do it?!

Thank you Lisa. I think that I see what your saying. But I still don't understand why it is such an upsetting thing. I assure you and everybody that it's nothing personal.

If you want to embed HTML within quotes then make sure you attach the closing tags for tables otherwise you mess up people's browsers.

The reason your quoting style isn't being embraced is because people here are accustomed to scanning a post for certain key elements (i.e. a quote box with an Originally posted by ..... in bold). Your posts force people to spend more time reading through the whole quote block trying to figure out what is what. Not to mention they have to scroll down a hell of a lot more - which is annoying - but, the spacebar saves the day.

No offense, but you haven't taken a drastically different direction yourself. The beauty of this thread is the inherent convictions you both display. Albeit, one of you does it with a side helping of humour, while others have gotten visibly irritated by it
Anyways, back to the hole I go

Hahaha...Ed, it seems that Del saved the day with showing you why it's annoying. It may not seem so obvious to you right away, but once you get used to the boards, if you saw everyone quote the way you did previously, you would probably begin to understand how frustrating it gets.
~Edit~
Not even worth my time.

If you want to quote more than one person, instead of clicking on quote directly, RIGHT CLICK on the quote and either open it in a new tab or a new window - depending on your browser. Then write your response underneath. Do that for all of the people you want to quote. Then COPY and PASTE, ALL of those quotes (and your responses) into ONE post. VOILA. |
Genius. Did they teach you that in school?
