I HATE this argument. Their 26 titles has NOTHING to do with 2007. Just like the Cardinals 10 titles has NOTHING to do with 2007. What you're saying is that the Yankees can never be 'bad' because they have 26 titles in the past. Which makes no sense...

In anycase, I still the the Yankees are a great team this year and will probably make the play-offs.

no, they're saying that, as a franchise, they have proven to be more successful. As fans, most people root for a franchise--a team from year-to-year. They do not change allegiances each year, and argue over who's made the best selection for the team to root for this year. Thus, they're saying that the team they root for is superior overall.

p.s. I don't like either team, but claiming the Yankees suck is a far weaker argument than the rebuttal to which you're taking offense.

well the dude that said "yankees suck" didnt say "the 2007 yankess suck" he made it seem like the yankees are just shit overall, always have been. i'm sure they can be bad, but up till this point they have been anything but bad.

wins and losses dont mean anything this early in the season

Posted by partyhopper on Apr-25-2007 03:18:

Torii Hunter could be suspended 3 years for giving champagne to Mike Sweeney

If I remember correctly, Sweeney didn't have much to do with the Royals sweeping the Tigers at the end of last season, which allowed the Twins to win the AL Central.

true. i'm just saying, at the current moment, they don't look so good. their pitching health has been an issue. if they had their complete A-team i think yankees would've gotten 2 of the games at least up in boston. throwing two unproven guys right into the mix at fenway is tough. the yankees weren't exactly blown out in any of those games. once wang gets another start or two in, and they get moose back, they should be good. pavano, forget about him.

let's go mets.

At some stage though it becomes a serious worry. Especially when your pitching is Darrell Rasner, Jeff Karstens, etc. with Carl Pussyano injured, Kei Igawa being a piece of shit, Moose injured and 38 years old. There's a lot of worry! The bullpen that was supposed to be brilliant has been terrible including tonight giving up a grand slam to Carl Crawford. Now I love me some Carl Crawford (insert my fantasy team quote here).

I'm gonna cream in my pants though on Thursday with Phil Hughes. Go Phil, it's your birthday. Probably gonna get rocked to spite me.

don't worry about the yankees...they always end up winning towards the end stretch of the season...another playoff year for the yankees...and picthing wont help them there...no world series again

If that's the case, why do the Yankees even have to play?

Posted by fmodena369 on Apr-25-2007 19:50:

because they play for offense...and sooner or later bitch cashman is gonna have 2 make deals for pitchers and not ppl who go up there thinking they're going to jack a homerun everytime...except A-ROD because HE ACTUALLY DOES IT!!

Why I hate baseball:

1. Barry Bonds.
2. Everyone else in the league either used to be or is still on steroids or, at the very least, is still on Human Growth Hormone.
3. The complete lack of parity.
4. Since everybody is jacked-up now, no one steals bases, uses the hit-and-run, or bunts. Everyone just stands around & waits for the home run.
5. The lack of a salary cap and revenue sharing, as I explained earlier, make the league a joke. Even if it does not affect parity in ever single case, it certainly makes for an overwhelming trend.
6. Player salaries are absolutely absurd.
7. With guaranteed contracts, those salaries mean that teams are stuck with players forever. The combination of insane salaries and guaranteed contracts means that no small market teams can ever take risks on big free agents, since it means risking the entire franchise.
8. The lack of some sort of restricted free agency has resulted in such turnover that it's hard to remain loyal to any specific team, since so many people change teams so often. It's become far too common for a guy to just get traded to a team for one year or even just for a playoff run, then head off again (think Kenny Lofton).
9. Aside from the fact that the overabundance and importance placed on home runs reduces the importance of creative offense to nonexistent, it also means that little to no attention gets paid to the few people who actually do those other things properly--including defense.
10. The DH

Hmmm... perhaps you should just become a fan of an NL team?

I already picked that up a long time ago. I grew up a White Sox fan, but the Braves games were always on TNT and I started watching them when I really young and had started pitching, since that was when they had Maddux, Smoltz, Avery, & Glavine on the same rotation . So now I root for them both...moreso the Sox, though.

I like the NL game a lot more, but that only solves one of those issues.

as long as it ends with him being banned from baseball, wiped off the record books and/or imprisoned, I'll be glad, too.

only the pitchers are fat nowadays. Nothing wrong with being in shape, and it's happened in every other sport (most notably in golf recently).
