But, being veggie or vegan is cool if that's your game...by all means, go for it, it's healthy and good for you, I admire you for it actually (I will eat anything that walked or flew once, and require meat for every meal lol).

But if that is your choice, why do you require your veggies to be in the form of meat products? veggie dogs, veggie burgers, even that tofurkey stuff...

Eat veggies if you want, but why pretend it's meat? I don't take ground meat and form it into the shape of brocoli or carrots??!

It's like those people who annoy me at the bars who ask for non-alcohilic drinks in the form of alcohol (ie. in a rock glass, with a garnish, cocktail straw etc) just to appear that they are drinking... you don't drink, that's cool... but don't pretend...

Maybe there is a good reason for it... just please tell me? cuz it's irrating as hell!

Reminds me of grade school when the loner kid said he had a girl friend but she lives in the states and he has a picture of her from a magazine...

/rant over

first of all, WHAT?

second of all, why does the shape people choose to eat their veggies in matter to you? have you stopped to think that maybe people who eat veggie burgers/dogs are not in fact pretending it's meat but rather enjoying the veggie burger/dog for what it is and tastes like??

I eat beef burgers, chicken burgers, but would rather eat a veggie burger because i like the way it tastes better not because i wanna pretend i'm eating meat or wanna eat my veggies in a different shape... ffs. srsly lol

Thanks Larissa

Mach, I am not going to tear you a new asshole but I will attempt to educate you in the intricacies of not wanting to take life away in the name of feeding yourself.

I have not eaten meat or fish for over 20 years. Probably getting on for 25 and for most of those years, I couldn't stand anything that was 'fake' meat. I, too, couldn't understand why you would want something that reminded you of all the animals that die to make the meat burgers etc. But, after living most of my life searching for protein to eat that wasn't full of fat, I decided to try a veggie burger and now I am hooked! I can still remember what meat burgers taste like and the smell reminds me too - veggie burgers taste different! They have a minimal amount of fat in them which changes the texture and how it feels on your tongue. They are less dense and, so I am told, much easier to digest. I hate veggie dogs, they taste like rotten ass (I imagine).

My lovely boyfriend eats veggie at home. I don't make him, not at all, but he enjoys it. He has his meat fix at lunch usually and therefore there is no meat in our home. Because of his wonderful respect for me (he says he loves veggie food and that it is not a sacrifice) I have made loads more effort to try 'fake meat' and a coupld of weeks ago, I found meatless meatballs in Loblaws. They were DELICIOUS! Adam loves them, his sister loves them (she is diabetic, this is GREAT food for her) and he says the only way you can tell they aren't flesh is the lighter texture. So it appears that I like the taste of 'fake meat' too - the reality is, they are made with soy protein, onions, spices etc and there is more fat in them than veggie burgers so they taste even more realistic.

Hope this eases your "confusion".

He Rachel,

I am not a vegetarian, but I do agree with you that veggie burgers taste good. I like the real ones, but in the States I got hooked on Boca burgers. I don't think they have them in Canada, but there are similar ones that I found @ Sobe's in the past. By the way, I didn't know you are a vegetarian, respect for that

Like I said before, I have mad respect for you if you are vegan or veggie.. good for u! I couldn't do it...

It was just the method of having it in a meat form that confucked me...

I'm east indian... and most of the dishes are veggie and lots of my family are veggie and get thier full consumption of protein and iron etc by grains, potatoes, veggies etc.... all of which are not in a meat form...

I was just wondering what is the fascination with the meat shape or way of eating?

Didn't mean to knock anyone, and was well prepared for some backlash... it just has always been a irk of mine...never got it

Pssssst.....just noticed that no one mentioned this. Mach X...burger patties and hot dogs/sausages etc. do not come off the animal looking like that. They are processed meat. So.....why can't vegetables be processed the same way ????

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I just ate at a Hardees in NC after not seeing one for nearly a decade.
We always used to stop at one on the drive from DC>TO until it closed. We always ordered the mushroom-swiss burgers. Yesterday I had one for the 1st time in years (w/curly fries, of course).

It was heaven in my mouth!!!

Also had breakfast there- the monster biscuit was awesome.

Too bad (or maybe its a blessing) there are none conveniently located in my area.
