-- Why Does ATB Get Such Bad Treatment Here?
Pages (7): « 1 2 3 [4] 5 6 7 »
i think personally that atb would be better off trying to produce under a different name although atb is really short for his real name.
if he produced stuff under a different name then maybe the reputation of his comercial stuff from the past wouldnt prevent people from viewing his new stuff as they do

ATB was the first dj that really got me into electronica back when i was 15 years old, when he released Movin Melodies, and i have still been listening to him since. Unfortunetly i have not yet have had the privilege to see him play live but one day i will. ATB's productions are not meant for ASOT etc. His productions are more for the going to the beach and relaxing as the sun sets over the ocean/etc. If you can't respect him as a dj in that sense, then your really in the wrong forum because no one should deserves to getting bashed like that.. I can just see the original people here who would bash a dj like that. What do you have that he doesn;t have? I'm sure not much by the looks of it. I see ATB as more of a producer then a person who would play music at a club. To be honest i've been listening mostly to Armin Van Buuren for the past 2.5 years, but i'll never forget my first hero! Still though, i don;t want to hear you people bashing about ATB. He's in the top 20 dj list in the world and was in the top 10 back in 2005. That must mean something.. If you consider dj sammy and atb on the same level then something must be wrong with you! Thats all i have to say. But everyone is entitled to there own opinion i guess. Andre, if your reading this, i can't wait for the Trilogy.. I've already seen your video for Renegade, and from the looks of it, im getting pretty excited to hear your new work give me goosebumps all over! ![]() Lukas |

ATB should do his ambient/downtempo/chill tracks under a different alias and release albums full of that. I actually think he does some pretty good chill out stuff...the chill CD on "Two Worlds" is excellent, and the track "Circular Symetry" as I probably already noted in this thread. Sounds a little different (and better) than his typical uplifting-trance/euro-dance type stuff.

I can't tell you what tracks this are in the samples...never heard it before! ..and now go on! It's intersting! ;o) Andre |
I like some of your tracks ATB as a producer, and I think your competent at it, esp your more chilled stuff. But I don't think the DJing is for you. I haven't been to your live shows, and I have heard a few sets, but when I buy a mixed CD, I expect at least competent mixing. Now mixing live isn't as big of a deal, cause people aren't going to analyze your mixing but they will with a mixed CD or recorded radio show. The kind of mixing on your CDs and some sets you've recorded like on your website, are more suited for amateurs who are just getting their feet wet, trying to learn. Those who may post on a forum like TA's DJ Promotion area.
If that's what the CDs you've released represent, someone who doesn't know that much about EQing, beatmixing and beatmatching and just flow of tracks, then that's fine. But paying what 17.99 to 19.99 (here in the US) for a mixed CD that has really amateur mixing, is disapointing. It's really the type of CD where your better off just doing quick radio cuts throughout than attempting to beatmix. It's esp disapointing for those fans who actually think your a somewhat competent producer. But I think it would be nice to diversify yourself, perhaps really delve into chill and downtempo stuff for a while. Like i've said in my previous post, "Circular Symetry" is amazing and definitely shows you have some talent in that field.

You are shit, and you represent everything I hate about the scene that I love. Oh hold on a minute. You produced 9PM (Till I Come) didn't ya? I take it back, you must be an amazing DJ. |
the problem is that when an artist produces the same thing , for exemple atb with movin melodies and two worlds( i take him as an exemple cause he is my favourite producer and it's question of him), people are not happy.when you try to produce different things because you have evolved and that you became more mature in producing, people bash you again and again.people are never happy and they can't find any reeason when you ask them why.the only thing that they answeris " he is commercial".
the only thing that i could reproach to andre is that his last single sounds poppy but i m waiting for listening to the next album and the single mixes to judge him.for the moment i have never been disapointed by him except by the single humanity, i know that is able to produce choons like beleive in me and summer rain.the other fact is that if you don't produce asot tracks or tatw tracks, you are a shitty producer.
you are shitty dj or shitty producer when you are popular ( for exemple tiesto , i don't understand why evrybody bash him , he is a legend and atb too)and because your tracks are not played on the boring show ASOT or less boring tatw.i m sure that many people who bash atb or tiesto because i like tiesto too, had their tracks played as ID on tatw , gdjb or asot , everybody would say " omg what a choon , who is the producer".
the reason is the jealousy that's all.

didn't read everything but i think his remix of airwave is brilliant. to me the original sounds almost incomplete when compared side-by-side w/this remix.

stop bitching around guys.
atb doesnt get good treatment because so many people in here think he does "cheese" music, and pop music. while they love pure trance they dont like atb's style, thats it.
but oh well :-) here bt - ...... ? won the track of the year 2006
that says enough about atb not getting a good repuation in here.

I just read the whole thread and I'm surprised no one just said:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
It might be a cheesy cliche, but that certainly works here. So you don't like ATB - okay, that's nice. So you like ATB - okay, that's nice too. You can argue until the cows come home but that *probably* won't make that big of a difference - ATB will be ATB.
Back to the ORIGINAL thread topic:
It's simple why ATB get's such bad treatment here....
A lot of TAs prefer something else that they heard that they thought was better. ATB just didn't make the cut in their eyes, big deal, get over it, listen to what you love, bash what you hate. If you really want to waste your time flaming somebody for their opinions, then by all means, go ahead and waste your time.
Meh, his first album was excellent - even if the awesome part was the overlooked tracks. Emotion, Underwater World, Obsession? All perfect summer music, and they do have a bit of depth to them.
I can't, however, listen to the later albums at all. It seems he put all the talent and inspiration he had into the first and now is just repeating himself.

I just came to a conclusion that the worse the dj/producer is, the dumber his fanboys are.
