very tough to do, but great for your mental and physical state to recharge, refocus, and simply rest, and heal. Most of us who train on a regular basis are usually in a constant state of overtraining, its hard not do. To take an extended break will do you some good.

Totally! I know it is good for me. I'll start back up full force next week. So excited. A new 4 week rotational routine with a 5-day split.

I didn't know what to do with myself this week, all the extra hours I had not being at the gym...

Really?? Damn. And here I was pissed at myself for missing 2 weeks (which was very easy to do, btw). Guess it makes sense though.

Posted by Speedy2k on Mar-23-2007 22:53:

Yeah taking a break up to two weeks is essential after about 2 months. You will come back stronger and will be able to break your old personal records.

i just bought a stationary bike and parked it in front of the tv..best move i've made in years...i already hit the gym twice a week but wanted to do cardio on a daily basis and didn't have time for it at the club...lost 10 pounds since christmas

now if i can stop those pesky beers from breaking into my place every weekend and hiding in my fridge i might just see a few bumps on the tummy that are supposed to be there

Buddy... I go to Strictly Fitness as well. What time do you workout?

I just started a new routine yesterday... It's good cause I have been overtraining and spending WAY too long at the gym for a long time now. It was strange to be out of the gym in an hour yesterday, but I could definitely get used to it.

Now I have a 5-day split. 4-5 exercises a day, 3-4 sets and I only superset my arms. It should be a good week.

I was soooo excited to go to the gym yesterday after taking a week off, it was like I was going to see Erick Morillo or something...

I am such a geek

i just started going to the gym about a month ago.

all i noticed in the first couple of days how out of shape i was. especially my heart, poor little thing never got any exercise. i am starting with that mostly to get my heart into shape. so mostly cardio. i do weights too but i know my body and i know that if i over do the weights (even small weights) i will grow pretty fast.

Its a myth that women should not do heavy weights or they will get "bulky". Its basicly BULLSHIT. If you want a lean sexy body you must lift weights to tone your muscles, its the only way. You can do cardio all day long but you wont get that lean look that you see in fitness magazines. For that you need to have a proper weights routine that is simular to what a guy would do.

Guys spend years in the gym trying to get big, you will not get big by accident believe me.

not a big fan of machines, unless its a circuit training day, usually just stick to dumbbell, barbell, compound movements depending upon workout and day.

Posted by Cro_Addict on Mar-27-2007 14:06:

i do bicep curles to get food to my mouth..

this may be so for the females you know. but not for me. i do one push up and i bulk up. i know, you must be jealous, but really it is not attractive.

and like i said, i do do the minimum weight training because muscles burn more calories than non-muscle.

Posted by Cro_Addict on Mar-27-2007 15:26:

seriously i can't get motivated to continue going on a regular basis.

How do you guys keep yourselves motivated to eat right and go to the gym regularily?

Once you let it form into some sort of habit, you will want to go, start feeling like shit, depressed, moody, etc, if you don't go, its strange. You have to let it become part of your daily routine, part of your life, a priority, and important. Sounds odd to some folks. I've cancelled plans, rearranged other activities simply because to me, going to the gym is more important..

marge, i have the same issues! i bulk up VERY easily. i just try to do a lower weight than what i'm capable of and do lots of reps. i also do yoga/pilates/balance ball stuff to stretch and hopefully develop long, lean muscle.

tonight is lifting night. nah, it's not that bad, but i'd rather be playing ultimate when it's so nice outside!

yeah, pilates is pretty much my favorite type of working out but it wasn't working my heart enough obviously. and i find i get discouraged a lot with the more advanced stuff when i can't do it so i quit too easily. One day I will be pilates Queen!

And it is so nice outside here too!

Pilates and yoga gives me gas.
