| Originally posted by Moral Hazard What you're failing to see, however, is that for many religions one of the chief tenents of faith is evangalism. This is especially true in the Chritian faiths as all of them contain a mission of apostalism. Granted some are more subtle then others... Anababtists (read: mennonites, amish, etc) believe that their lives should be lived as examples of Jesus' teachings and they therefore lead by example, Roman Catholics generally believe that doing good works in the name of Christ fullfills their apostolic mission, most of the Evangelical churchs believe that they must win people to Christ through educating them of Christ's teachings. Unfortunately, there are many that get a little too zeallous in trying to spread "the good news." |

This has always been uber-simple to me.
Live your life as well as you can by bringing as much happiness to people and minimal pain. Be the person you want to be and treat others how you would like to be treated.
If there ever is a day of reckoning, I know I will pass with flying colours.
That's all from me. (no, I don't believe)
how can you be into this trance and all kinds of 'electronica' and not believe in God...and what does God have to do with organized religion and church...don't let religion clous your outlook on the so called existence of god.

Lord of the Rings, The Bible = same shit.
It is not possible to be an Atheist.
Even the smartest men in the world believe there is a possibility that a greater being exists
Things are too perfect for it to have happened by chance, however great that chance was.
- We use less than 15% of our brain
- we don't even know our own earth and are constantly learning more about it everyday
- we are just specs in this magnificent place we call our Universe ..maybe even a Multiverse
To say with absolute certainty that GOD doesn't exist makes you the all knowing..the smartest being to ever exist.
Just because you don't know Jason Marval, doesn't mean he doesn't exist.
1) You've never met him
2) You're not looking to meet him
3) You just don't care
This is an example of a hypothetical person (being) who might exist in this world...on this earth, and that's that we're just a mere 6 billion people.
For someone to say that he doesn't exist, is not only arrogant, but means you've met and know all people on this earth and can therefore say that he doesn't exist.
Are you even able to rule out that other life forms don't exist in our universe?
Now with that being said, can you really say that GOD doesn't exist with all certainty?
The answer is YOU DON't KNOW. Admitting that, leaves room for possibility and therefore ruling out Atheism.
I'm not religious by any means, but it doesn't mean I don't believe in GOD, a god or some higher being.
Religion and believing in GOD are 2 different things.
Being human, we need things to have explanations, and be logical so that our brain's can make sense of it.
Believing and knowing GOD has nothing to do with the brain.... think with your heart.

| Originally posted by Stilez To be honest, I don't know shit about the brain. I'm not a brain surgeon or neurologist nor have I claimed to be. Never studied it and probably never will. Thought I would use it to prove a point (to be honest, I thought it was true. Never researched that)... but if it OFFENDS you so much would it be better that I use a different example? Something PROVEN? Meh, a tactic commonly used by individuals in these types of discussions to 'write off' stuff. One thing is wrong...therefore all things said are wrong. |
