I was up in BC for a conf a couple months ago and my coworkers and I all noticed an accent.

People say aboot for reals, I was waiting in the lobby of the hotel for someone next to the bar, and from what I gathered they were cops or investigators or something and they all said aboot and "eh" and stuff. It took me a bit to not start laughing.

It's not that strong though, but its there if you listen carefuly.

One of my co-workers is from Spain and he said that they do have a really noticable accent compared to people just south in WA. Guess its easier for non-native speakers to notice it.

there is no such thing as a standard english accent, the accents and dialects within the uk have a huge amount of variation

EDIT: For info, to tell the two apart Canadians use 'eh?' in place of '.'.
