PS - Did you know the German fans were hunting the English fans in the cities they were playing in? So they kept togther and defended themselves just like I'm sure you would put in same position.

I acutally have a good answer for this.

They deserve it they remove our towels off sunbeds abroad, have square heads, their arrogant and listen to David Hasselhoff.

On the documentary I know the one you mean. With the square in that city, now if you watched the whole thing the BBC were really against the England fans it we were presented in the usual way skinhead blokes with tattoos fighting.

There was German hooligans trying to get England fans, it provokes us to stick togther we drink we get aggressive there is trouble.

Posted by Mentol on Apr-19-2007 15:49:

I dont deny in that doc, cuz 1/3 of it was showing how fucked up our Hooligans are. But to say that you guys dont go into peoples countries and take pride in taking the piss, is a bit of a lie. I mean you guys get drunk just to mess with people, and not in your own country at that lol... what were the Germans supposed to do, let you crap all over their own land, when you were their guests, and as guests ur supposed to somewhat behave. Come on man, admit, UK'ers are ******s ... ur looking for for the fight.

Posted by jupiterone on Apr-19-2007 15:53:

Us poles aren't really that civilized at football matches either so this arguement isn't going places. I've been to national team matches, club matches and town football games and really we act the same as most hooligans. Lets be real. We have a heart to cheer our teams on but we also have the attitude to destroy the match.

But to insult Poland as a whole is ridiculous.

We used to look for fights we're better behaved these days. They're bad here in the UK too some of domestic games especially derbies, even the small town teams with about 500 fan attendence sometimes have the occasional fight.

It's sad in a way because we're tarred with the brush that we're disrespectful and violent people so if I we go to Europe the police will watch us closely.

Still though people will provoke us into fighting when we're minding our own business.

I don't have an hard time believing english fans are provoked more often than others due to their reputation. But some verbal provocation isn't enough justification for losing the temper and starting a fight. Fuck 'honour', a bunch of basic insults from some idiots doesn't justify further pushing your fans reputation into the mud.

The impression I get is that english people tend to be fairly more aggressive than people over here. Starts with kids who beat up each other a lot, follows with alcohol parties resulting in regular fights (almost unseen over here, despite people consuming LOTS of alcohol), and ends with football hooliganism.

Of course I recognise english hooliganism improved a lot since the tragedy of Heysel, and lately we've seen violent episodes around football in the whole Europe, which certainly indicates this phenomenon isn't exclusive to England. But IMO it's in part a consequence of your culture/mentality. English fans aren't to blame in every single episode they've been to, and the media has exploited the whole thing a bit too far, but I still think they're more prone to trouble than other supporters.

Very good post.

I agree English people in general are quite aggressive lot, but I think on the continent we're portrayed like a group of barbarians too much which you can blame the media for. In the 80's, 90's we were the worst behaved set of fans and it's quite embrassing in some ways.

Yet our police are the best in the world for Hooliganism. All people with convictions for it have to check into to police stations the day of world cup games. At all airports and seaports football intelligence officers are placed to spot troublemakers. We do are best to prevent violence at games.

I was out in Florence (Firenze) in Italy during the world cup when we lost in the quarter finals to you guys. what police there was literally gathered around us. Yes there was a bit of banter between us and the Portuguese a couple of chants of the good old 'Who are yer' 'Who are yer' during the penalties when Gerrard put his in and levelled it we ran over to the Portuguese fans cheering in their faces, but after that game with amount of controversy involved we went up to your fans shook their hands and spoke about the game.

Heysel was very sad. My team made it into Europe the season afterwards but of course English teams were banned, so no European campaign for us

Prince Polo or shall we say Nou's new Alt? Nice attempt at a british slang btw. If your not then I apologize.

Well the piss taking is over mate. It's been quite a rational discussion for the past few pages. At the end of the day it's a bit of banter.

Think about Eire? Well I'm half English and half Irish there isn't really much I can do about that.
