If you use RM and FM synthesis along with standard subtractive, you can create some really cutting leads. Also vibrato and a slow filter envelopes that comes down on the note after a second or two really helps.

my point exactly! im no pro and i own a jp-8080 along with v-station, vanguard, pro 53, z3ta+ and some others and i can honestly say that i use vanguard as much as v-station and eq'd and compressed correctly its sounds very clean and crisp....

have a listin to adams demo of vanguard!!

I got a sound out of Reasons subtractor the other week that was amazing, just one subtractor- 2 osc's and a flanger unit hooked up, and i came up with a preset which stands up to any virus and should be impossible with that particular synthesizer. sounds amazing, full, round, the works, but of course most of what i try to do with the subtractor is thin because its a thin weak synth, but when i came up with that preset it made me remember that somtimes it doesnt matter what you use its more what you do with it. a lot of synths have hidden power if you tweak the right settings. Somtimes you just have to work a little harder.

Vanguard is a cool synth, sound a bit 'tinny or metalic' at times but with the right compression, eq and a bit of distortion this synth can scream for sure

You know, it kind of defeats the purpose of using a sock puppet when you make the sock puppet look just as stupid and annoying as you look (maybe even more so).

Why can't you just leave without a fuss? This has nothing to do with seniority, and I don't think I've ever said this to a new member here before, no matter how irritating, but - you're not wanted here. That ought to be abundantly clear to you and "rubez" by now.

+1

I think this thread should be an example of what NOT to do when joining this forum. Get it in the stickies under "Please refrain from doing this" or something similar.

But would anyone read it?

Posted by rubez on Apr-26-2007 14:04:

there are tons of threads created that have already been covered in the stickies, doesnt mean u cant get another opinion or point of view. just a few stuck up people who think they know everything.

...which you could full well do in the already existing threads. Or is that too complicated for you?

Some of those people happened to be lucky that a few infrequent contributors saw their threads and didn't realize how many similar ones were already posted. Your luck wasn't so good.

But instead of sucking it up like other members who got caught asking dumb questions, you lashed out at everyone else, and to make matters even worse, created a sock puppet. That's why you're a universally-loathed useless dicksmack and the people who started those other threads have been forgiven.

Great Thread, have had a huge laugh, thanks Rubez. Ya Tosser

Vanguard imo is crap, when comparing it to other synths out there that is.
Realistically its prob an *ok synth for a beginner new to production but your not gonna get any real ripping trance synths off it. Thats something I guarantee.
Albino's a *decent synth, it is NOT hard to program. At first it may seem intimidating but once you learn the logic to it you'll learn its easy as shit to use, even still.. I don't prefer it.
z3ta's a *great synth imo, but I'm yet to wrap my hands around it (only cause I havent tried) i personally think I have a buggy version because I have issues with knobs resetting everytime the melody loops so I've said f**k it for now.
Honestly the **ONE** synth I really do respect is Sytrus. I think only because one day I was playing around with it and "accidentally" made the awesomest, hardest, dirtiest, most vibrant hard synth sound I've ever heard before.
I was amazed and studied for days and days the knobs I tweaked and what I did and once I got the hang of it I understood you really can make ANY sound with Sytrus. I still have the patch saved and have never heard anyone replicate a sound like it but am saving it for a big one.. while I work on other sounds. But yeh, Sytrus is my favorite right now and the odd thing is its the only one I paid for too

This is trance.nu all over again aint it, you're pathetic. Diginut will always give the right advice if you're not either asking already answered or plain retarded questions or if you're acting like a 12 year old frustrated kiddy. Since you manage to do both you're not gonna get much sympathy around here. Now this thread is ready for a lock I guess. I suggest you change your attitude or get out of this forum.

And I love the way you try to act like a bully and pretend it's not real life, where you'd get the piss beaten out of you six times over for talking this way to people.

And you just don't give up either, it's amazing! Just how badly do you need to embarrass yourself before you finally decide to cut your losses?

I want to start an unnoficial TA producers IRC channel, where we can ban people at will. Anyone keen?

We could make it so that anyone with a post count above 200 has admin privelliges and can ban/kick any persons asking if FL is better than Cubase or those who say Vanguard is toss... or even just for fun?
