+1

Not many people that I know of are raised listening to EDM. At least those that haven't had the chance yet will get some exposure at a pretty good gig.

lol no doubt about that, like i've mentioned people are gona go deaf because of pvd's loud bass, im just scared they are gona start throwing tomatoes, cigarettes, tampons or condoms at pvd...That would suckk.

Truth be told, the only people who will notice are EDM fans, and probably not even the majority of them.

To the rest of the audience, it may very well sound what it's like between every act of the weekend - as there's lots of diversity in the lineup.

But yeah - for anyone familiar with both Hawtin and PVD, yeah, it should be pretty interesting

the negativity with respect to assuming paul isn't versatile enough to adapt to playing after hawtin and to the time slots given/mixing up of genres (Roots then Hawtin).

Just saying how it's sad that nobody acknowledged how cool it is to see EDM represented and instead ppl decide to focus on what (may) potentially fuck up.

Fair play.

Though again, I don't think it's so much about a fuck up, as it is about knowing what you're in for ahead of time and wondering how those two sounds are going to complement/clash with each other - and maybe that will make it a great moment, and maybe that will make it a moment, but either way, it's going to be a neat one.

Good point. When I made the Roots & Hawtin comment, I didn't mean for it to come off as being negative...they're two of my favorites across genres, and they're not on the same stage, so I'd really be going out of my way to be in that situation--not like they scheduled the two together. That being said, it'd still be quite awkward to hear those two in succession.

Well for one thing, Coachella has been having big EDM acts for years, the only really new thing is Tiesto for some reason playing the mainstage with a bunch of rock bands.

Though I saw Massive Attack on the mainstage last year, but at least they really put on a performance.

so true the sahara stage this year for example has been completely or almost devoted to edm and last year they had huge edm acts, its just now that the noobs notice it because of tiesto.

The truth of the matter is that you follow me around this forum like a jealous schoolgirl, nitpicking posts until finally settling on personal insults. My reply was merely dishing you a taste of your own pitiful medicine.

And if "hometown bar gigs" means playing some of the biggest nightclubs in Chicago, then yeah - I'm happy playing those.

Have a great day, Stan.

jealous schoolgirl damn! what exactly am I to be jealous of here?

i wasn't trying to make a logically flawless argument, just pointing out how you can appreciate my work in one thread then call it shit cheese in another. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

and nobody's following you around dummy, you just post in a lot of trace threads in this subforum with your sarcastic comments towards the genre and some of its artists, so it's kinda hard not to reply without you having been there first. Your sarcastic (read bitter) posts in all the big threads about sean tyas, filo n peri, tiesto/pvd etc only show you to be the jealous schoolgirl

You're quoting me and saying this as if it is news - yes, I know, and last year Oakenfold played and at least one TA (Kristina Sky) played as well.

My comment never said/implied that EDM inclusion was new - just that this thread did not display any real positive appreciation for it's presence amongst the rest.

Ok well, the way you wrote it, it seemed like it had some novelty factor, that we should admire, like it doesnt happen often in the US, but I think it really does.

And I think you'd find the appreciation would go up if someone like Laurent Garnier, and not Tiesto, was representing EDM on the main stage.
