Pick a side and stick to it. IMHO the acid test is this... if you go out and DANCE, you are a punter, if you stand on the dancefloor listening but you don't shake that ass, you should try your hand at djing.

LoL thats hilarious. I dance my party pants off all night long and DJ. Does this make me a Plunter?

Try again

I've heard all the bang jokes in the world.

If you come up with an original one, I'd like, give you a cookie or something

Tell that to all the DJs who are using Ableton (Sasha, Max Graham and more).

Hence why I said IMO

Every DJ has a different approach. Mine is no more valid than others

I'd say that Sasha & Max Graham's approach is quite valid (simply based on their success).

if ur computer djing, the only way of getting the best results and the most "human" results is by using a MIDI controller...period. if ur just gonna mouse click to trigger (which non of th big names do), its boring and limited

The new Vestax VCI-100 looks fantastic.

The nice thing about using something like traktor or other computer based systems I think it that you can always upgrade to a vinyl/CDJ hybrid with all the modules out there with time coded discs/records. So you can have all your music in one format on your computer and you could decide to use decks one day or just a small midi controller another or an external mixer etc.

If you want to put it that way, Sasha and Max Graham stands out as one of the few (well, relatively few) 'big name' DJs who have gone to Ableton while most others are using CDJs. *shrug*

...PVD, Gabriel & Dresden too

I'm not too sure about with software or midi controllers but with stuff like scratching and beat juggling you can only do with turntables. Stuff like what Eddie Halliwell and James Zabiela does.

I have a friend who's a big Hip-Hop DJ, scratcher etc. He does it pretty much full time, and he switched to Serato about a year ago. Watching him do some sick scratching up close using his laptop as the source sold me on the idea.

Posted by Cro_Addict on May-08-2007 21:12:

this is not fuckin easy

zabiela uses 2 (or more) CDJ 1000MK3s + Pioneer DJM800 + EFX 1000 + laptop using ableton....

thats imo is the most ideal setup..*drool*

JZ is also way out of the league of anything Cro_Addict hopes to accomplish, no offence Cro.

its fuckin hard....and i think it would be much easier if i could actually be shown by someone instead of just reading up on shit...

Does anyone have a mixer for sale?

Nothing fancy, but preferably with some effects.

I am liking the Numark DXM06

I want to buy some earphones. Maybe the shure in ear ones, not really sure yet, so just wanted to ask for some advice. What set of headphones, around 200$, is the best bang for the buck?

My Shur 2Ecs are fantastic. They ran me... forget, maybe aruond 150$? Cant remember now.

And if you go E3c, or E4cs even better quality.

But im highly satisfied w/ my 2s... block outside sound out completely. Very nice.
