You guys keep talking like we know that Armin is the only DJ all night @ Giant Village. Full line up hasn't even been announced yet. Please wait until all the announcements have been made to talk shit.

The fact that some of us aren't into Armin's music (trance) is not the main point. The point is that a lot of people are going to be dissapointed that Giant Village is gonna be an Armin/trance night.

Silly Julia...didn't you know that if you dislike trance all your arguments are automatically wrong, without anyone even trying to comprehend what you actually said?

That may be the point but it's just a mood killer when you see sarcastic remarks like ->

"it's cheap cuz the line up sux. lol"

"Is it seriously just Armin? That's pretty lame."

"Regardless, if they are advertising it as "ARMIN NIGHT - 8 HOUR SET".... the line up is gonna suck obviously"

"Armin and a bunch of DJs who play almost the same tracks as him! wooo!"

I can see how people are disappointed since last year's line up was very diverse. And as DJWoody has said, more DJs may be announced, so don't give up all hope yet

I know people are going to like what they like and post what they want, but I would just assume that if people are disappointed in the line up for any event, they would just ignore the thread for the event and show their disappointment by not supporting the event and simply not go to it.

YEAH what he ^ said!

Posted by bas on May-07-2007 21:51:

So people shouldn't post their opinions if it shows the even in a negative light? That's not very fair.

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on May-07-2007 22:05:

You can express all frustrations and displeasure on this thread but there's not one soul on here that can do anything about it. All it does it brings a bad vibe to everyone. So what's the point?

And please don't tell me, one gets satisfaction out of whinning?
Cause you're a sad individual if you do.

I'm certain Giant has a site where your voice's can be heard.

I suggest you shoot them an email.

Be positive and enjoy the music!

Well this is a discussion forum and in a lot of discussions people have opposing views. You don't like them don't read them

Alright buddy, brilliant!

I expected more from a college grad. I used to think you were a pretty cool guy.

Stay positive!

It is a discussion forum but it still doesn't answer the question of why people feel the need to add negative posts to a thread that shouldn't be important to them in the first place because they know who is playing and what it is about.

Maybe it is not fair and may not lead to a great "discussion form", but it gets kind of old hearing people always complain about a DJ or genre of EDM that is in a thread about that event with that same DJ or genre.

For example, whenever Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, etc. are going to be playing, you can usually find the same "Well I won't be going to this because I personally dislike xxxxx. . . ., I can't stand xxxxx, etc." from the same people over and over again.

I guess I just don't see why people who don't like a particular DJ, who then see that very same DJ's name in the title of a thread and then feel that they have to add a negative post to it. It's like -

So and so will be playing at Vangard on x/xx!
People will post ->

Great news!
When are tickets on sale?
I'm really looking forward to this!

So and so really sucks in my opinion and I would never go to this.

See how that kind of puts a little damper on the mood of the thread? Can you ignore it? Sure, but is it really necessary for "discussing" this particular thread topic?

Posted by TSG on May-08-2007 00:11:

Again I say... "Yeah what he ^ said!"

Posted by bas on May-08-2007 00:20:

No I changed my mind. The world isn't all sunshine and farts guys, sometimes people disagree with your tastes and sometimes they let you know!! omg scary So there are some TAs that don't want to go, should we start a totally new thread talking about who's not going and why? What would be the point of that? Then the people that ARE going would go in that thread and say why they are going...see where I'm going with this?

Posted by Miss Julia on May-08-2007 00:26:

Once again, the main points were not that xxxxx dj sucks. The main point was that it sucks that Giant Village, an event that so many people were looking forward to, is going to be a trance event.

This thread was about Giant Village in genral, so people are gonna say what they feel.

Man, I'm so bored at work. I'm off now!

but Bas, who wants logic when you can have emotion? or a discussion when everyone just really wants a circle-jerk? Don't you see, having a different opinion is overly negative and we really can't have that in this thread.

There is no need for the totally new thread. Like I said in my first post, I just assumed that if they are not excited or show an interest in an event they would simply not pay attention to it and move on. People are going to disagree with each person's personal tastes and that is not scary. People are also never going to like all of the same music, so what good does it do be negative over and over again on the same topic that will never benefit from that type of discussion?

Yes, there will always be people that will feel that they have to say something on every thread (your example of adding why they are going to something when the post title is about who's not going) but I think the difference is that in that case, people would be trying to promote a more positive message of maybe trying to show them that maybe so and so's style has changed and they in fact may be interested in going now.

I'm just trying to promote a more positive tone, but like Clovis said it's beginning to sound like complaining about complaining so I'll drop it

Is this irony?

Not scary. Just predictable & tiresome.
