I'm not quite sure how one can criticize another person's subjective tastes on what they do and don't find appealing in a particular medium of art and subsequently attempt to articulate why what they listen to is 'right'.

i listened to this yesterday at work and again today (because i ran out of new stuff on my mp3 player and your set was the best one in the player)
anyway, i really liked it. mixing was brilliant and smooth as fuck.
the tunes weren't really something i'd see myself buying, but i really enjoyed them nonetheless and i felt that the mixing made this mix more than a sum of its parts.
dunno if i felt anything tantric though, just good music.

thanks, i'm flattered that you said that about more than a sum of its parts, because my belief is that unless you can put yourself into a collection of other people's music, you're not deejaying.

I agree that it's not as tantric as I originally had wanted it to be when I decided I was going to call the next mix "tantra". Like I mentioned in the original post, I kept hearing new stuff while I was compiling tracks and the sound changed a lot.

The tantric idea was to draw out the tracks as much as possible into a long stream of rising energy which culminates at last with a track like Diabla. When people ask me about deejaying I usually explain it as a sort of tantric exercise where you are constantly playing a game of teasing people with sounds and rhythms, holding back from playing the biggest tracks until the crowd absolutely can't take it anymore. I generally find that to be more rewarding for instance than getting a cheap rise out of people for playing big tracks early and having a couple guys pat you on the back.

so i tried to do that basically in this mix, whether or not it was how you heard it is another matter

Sir you are fancy at mixing!

I kept more interested in listening to your mixing/transitions than the songs themselves.

I love your harmonic way of transitions songs, and the mix is definitely Journeyful.

Congratulations =)

But that is the problem with trance. It has been the same noises with the same pattern for 15 years now.

BORING !!
