im very central on this entire issue. both sides are in the wrong. but until the palestinian leadership rejects violence (hello hamas & fatah) in favour of peaceful negotiations, they get less sympathy from me.

I have to agree with you. People seem to constantly pick a side. Why? Both nations are clearly in the wrong and it's not like it can just be fixed in a week.

Edit : why are so many sigs getting edited on this forum ? did anyone notice ?

Posted by Fledz on Jun-20-2007 06:31:

Something about some bullshit image restrictions. The mods here are far too serious about sigs.

yes, the IDF kill civilians too. but i dont see collateral damage quite the same way.

but youre right. its pretty fucked up and no easy solution is to be found. if they could just stop killing each other and give a chance for talks... which wont happen of course as long as hamas is in control.

i like the suggestion by the dude in the political forum: turn the whole area into a sheet of glass and wait for the radiation to go away

Anyhow, the evangelical movement was created+promoted in the 80s by the Israeli ministry of tourism - boy did that pay off :/

I think the easiest way to prove it is with this:

Yes. How clever of them. ^_^

You mean ...

The Earth really is a sphere??

its not actually. due to the moons gravitational pull it bulges at the centre, not making it a perfect sphere.

My Wasted Blue Tac Ball Theory suggests otherwise maaan!!

i call bollocks. the moon's gravitational pull might make a bulge out of the water but thats about it. this does not preclude the earth from being a sphere.

LOLOL i was waiting 4 ur reply

It's not a perfect sphere anyway, regardless of the presence of the moon.

well no, but its still a sphere as far as im concerned. a chewed up tennis ball is still a sphere to me though

U craaaaaaiiiiize

The land and oceans also effect the gravity of the earth, further lessing it's spherical shape.

In geospatial terms we call the Earth, a Spheroid, we know it isn't a perfect sphere but its the closest possible resemblance to one.

Posted by Philby on Jun-21-2007 03:47:

go the geoid!

Posted by Dj_Es-Dva on Jun-21-2007 03:54:

Pfft can't even seen the centroid there.

Posted by Deeman on Jun-21-2007 03:58:

So now that we know the Earth is not a perfect sphere but a sphere none the less, tell me, what happened to Gumble??

The bulge on the earth's equator is ofcourse because of it's rotation about the axis. But the moon does exert a bulging force on the rocks. This page gives a beautiful explanation about a number of earth-moon related gravitational effects. I'll quote the part that is relevant here.

quote:
...that is why there are two tidal bulges on the Earth, one on the near side, and one on the far side. Since water is more flexible than rock, we see the tidal effect strongly in the oceans of the Earth, but barely at all in the ground. However, the rock does bend, by as much as 30 centimeters (about a foot) up and down twice a day!
