I heavily disagree. Whenever wrestlers pass away, they do video tributes and have the tolling of bell. No need for McMahon to replicate this and have all his wrestlers stand there with fake sorrow when they've done this for their real brethren. Utter garbage and a disrespect to fans and family members of the deceased.

On a more serious note, the book version of that DVD is out already... in Oprah's bookclub at Chapters

As much as people are trivializing Benoits death or calling him a "loser" I think a much more serious matter lies underneath all the rhetoric, including the "roid rage" bullshit (if it was a "rage", why would he take the time to bound his wife's hands and feet...and place Bibles beside the bodies, as has been confirmed?).

I think Benoit was simply someone who cracked. Has an agressive temperment to begin with....and simply couldn't take it anymore. The industry works them hard....physical, mentally, and on some levels psychotically. I think the industry - which essentially is the WWE - is the issue.

It has been mentioned before that the industry will be scrutinized big time. It happened in '92-'93 with the steroid distribution scandal. But McMahon hadn't taken the company public yet. He could be in for some serious trouble. WWE is completely distancing itself from Benoit (going so far as to say he will be no longer spoken about on TV)- they are in serious damage control mode right now.

And you can bet Dana White is laughing right now. This will turn alot of people off professional wresting, but not combat/physical sports. The UFC has a pristine record right now and is a viable alternative to fans. White and McMahon are on opposite ends of the spectrum right now.

But I do want to end in saying I fully respect Benoit now as much as I did before this happened. I never met him, but as a longtime fan of the foolishness called "wrestling", I have seen him help many people and put smiles on the faces of young and old. The man he was isn't the one who he became at the end. It was a shock to all...and unless he turns out to be some maniac serial killer in his private life I respect him as a man who loved to entertain.

Benoit's Wikipedia Site Reported Wife's Death
Site Mysteriously Mentioned Death Before Cops Found Body

quote:

ATLANTA (June 28) - Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit's Wikipedia entry to mention his wife's death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son.

Benoit's Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife's death.

A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., where World Wrestling Entertainment is based.

An IP address, a unique series of numbers carried by every machine connected to the Internet, does not necessarily have to be broadcast from where it is registered. The bodies were found in Benoit's home in suburban Atlanta, and it's not known where the posting was sent from, Bass said.

Benoit strangled his wife and son during the weekend, placing Bibles next to their bodies, before hanging himself on the cable of a weight-machine in his home, authorities said. No motive was offered for the killings, which were discovered Monday.

Also Thursday, federal drug agents said they had raided the west Georgia office of a doctor who prescribed testosterone to Benoit.

The raid at Dr. Phil Astin's office in Carrollton began Wednesday night and concluded early Thursday, said agent Chuvalo Truesdell, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration. No arrests were made.

Hours before the raid, Astin told The Associated Press he had treated Benoit for low testosterone levels, which he said likely originated from previous steroid use.

Among other things, investigators were looking for Benoit's medical records to see whether he had been prescribed steroids and, if so, whether that prescription was appropriate, according to a law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity because records in the case remain sealed.

Astin prescribed testosterone for Benoit, a longtime friend, in the past but would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed when Benoit visited his office Friday.

State medical records show that Astin's privileges were suspended for three months in 2001 at a Georgia hospital for "reasons related to competence or character."

Astin did not return calls to his cell phone from the AP on Thursday.

Chris Benoit Had Drugs In His Body When He Killed His Family
Tuesday July 17, 2007
CityNews.ca Staff

Canadian pro wrestler Chris Benoit had 10 times the normal level of testosterone in his body when he murdered his wife and son then hung himself. Investigators announced the toxicology report on Tuesday and say it appears Benoit injected himself with testosterone shortly before killing his family.

His body also contained the painkiller Hydrocodone and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, though he tested negative to alcohol.

His wife and son were also found to have ingested Xanax.

Dr. Kris Sperry of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Benoit's seven-year-old son Daniel was sedated when he was killed and his wife had prescription drugs in her system.

Debate has raged since the bodies of the family were found in their Atlanta home last month about whether 'roid rage', a side-effect of steroid use which can cause paranoia, depression and violent outbursts, was what caused Benoit to kill his family.

Fuck off already with the "roid rage" bullshit. There is absolutely no credible proof whatsoever that steriods cause rage, let alone abnormal aggression. The man had mental issues beyond anyone's knowledge and/or comprehension, and the true reason for this horrible act will never be known.

What should be the focus now is cleaning up wrestling, and pro sports in general (which will never happen because people want to see abnormal athletic ability - and as long as there's a market, it will never change).

BULL!!!

Several other sources report the opposite. Although he did have elevated levels of testosterone their were NO TRACES of anabolic steroids. And all other said drugs found in the family were of theraputic levels. TO lazy to quote all the other articles but here is one.

Wrestler Chris Benoit's Toxicology Report Released

Investigators had hoped a toxicology report would provide clues to what drove pro-wrestler Chris Benoit into a murderous rage. But, investigators are instead left with questions as to why he killed his wife and son before killing himself.

The medical examiner only found one steroid in his system, and it wasn't an illegal substance. The testosterone had been injected into his body, 10 times the normal level, according to authorities .

Also found in Benoit, the anti-anxiety drug, Xanax, and the painkiller Hydrocodone. Investigators initially suspected a high dosage of steroids, or "roid rage," but the test results did not shed light on what led Benoit to murder.

Last month, Benoit killed his wife Nancy and their seven-year-old son Daniel in their suburban Atlanta home. He then hanged himself.

At 5'11" and 220 pounds, Benoit was a popular wrestler from Canada who made it big in the World Wrestling Entertainment, and WWE officials say he passed his last drug test.

But it's drugs, specifically Xanax, found inside his son's body that has the medical examiner puzzled. The ME says that drug wouldn't normally be given to a child for any routine purposes, but in this case, it appears Xanax was used to sedate the boy.

He also found that Benoit's wife, Nancy, had taken a cocktail of prescription drugs. But doctors say none of this contributed to their deaths, and the reason the wrestler killed his family remains a mystery.

Gotta love the arguments...roids = killing machine. If that were the case, half of baseball would be in jail for killing their spouses.

What about other reasons on why he did it? What if she was just a bitch? What if he was just plain crazy? There are far too many unknowns for us to say anything about what happened.
