It is called the "Blood Eagle" and was a ritual that vikings did to admirable foes and when making sacrifices to Odin. They would grab the victim by the arms and hold him still while someone stabbed them on the right side of their spine and cut downward through flesh and bone. They would then repeat this for the left side. After that they would pull the ribcage apart and let the lungs and shit dangle there. Often they would pin the victim to a wall or such as a warning for all those that passed by. Also the victim, if a sacrifice, was always handicapped due to the fact Odin had only 1 eye. Gawd vikings are so kewl. |
Not as cruel as the viking part tho, but one dandy way to go is to drink yourself to death.
Im not talking about alcohol, im talking about water. If you drink enough water you will die (about 20-25 liters, dunno what that is in gallons) because all the salt in your body is flushed out.
You literally piss yourself to death, now that may not be so cruel when it comes to pain (if you dont have a problem pissing, then you are in for one hell of a day) but how focus you must stay, you will live if you quit in time.
A swedish woman actually drank herself to death just a couple of years ago when she was ordered by the doctor to drink "good amounts of water", guess she thought that she wanted to be on the safe side so she drank 26 liters.
Thats my pennie.. not a way I wanna go tho.

Theoretically dying by drowning would not be so bad once you got over the panic stage, seeing that oxygen deprivation to the brain eventually leads to a euphoric state.
