Actually it really made our trip. it was nice to be in a clean spacious hotel room. We got great rest there, the bed was comfortable, linens nice, etc. The breakfast was excellent and since we were always coming back from partying we had it every morning. I stand by my statement that the people at the clubs can be a little suspiscious of you. Maybe it's becasue they have no idea who or where you are from. Of course there are plenty of friendly people and we didn't run into any problems besides the hotel BS. I would observe people and there were big groups of guys/gals that you could tell had come together from wherever in Europe and they seemed to be having the most fun, but they usually stuck to their own clique. I also noticed couples similar to oursleves, and then there were a bunch of single looking dudes trying to go crazy. It was pretty funny. The young kids come out on the weekend nights and they are rather immature and annoying. Try to avoid those crowds.

My wife and I have been traveling around partying for years so we really wanted to go, but for people who are not really into the party scene or music, it may not really be worth it to them. Advice: Don't bring somebody who isn't into it or has reservations about going. They won't want to put up with some of the BS and could drag you down.

My little brother who lives in Europe says that Ibiza has gotten way too commericalized and he's probably right, but this is not to say you shouldn't go if you haven't. Just don't build it up so much in your mind and it will probably be incredible. A lot of it is propaganda, though. I will say that the LA peeps have it pretty good with all the great acts they get on a regular basis. Feel fortunate about that.

Oh, I did do plenty of research before going and had some advice from some djs and managers. The web-sites and forums were also helpful, but there is no substitute for seeing it yourslef. Trust me, the hotels suck for the money.

I am curious about those new nice hotels. Pacha needs some competition. I saw that hotel being built somebody mentioned in the thread, but I don't have any info on it. Anybody help with that ?

i actually went to ibiza first in 1996 (almost went in 1991 when i lived in London that summer). it actually hasn't changed too much IMO from the first time i went. though no more live sex show at Manumission

i've met plenty of great people there - i've gotten to know a guy that owns one of the bars in old town (Bar Zuka). he in the past has hooked me up with free entry to Pacha and other clubs which was cool. last time he just wrote a note on a napkin which i gave to a doorguy at Pacha and we walked right in for free!

staying at Pacha hotel will save $150 in cover charges for FMIF and whatever other parties we go to there so that helps a lot in justifying the cost. and the location is a nice central location. no matter where you stay there at some point you gotta take a cab/car/bus to get to some club or beach.

as to the new hotels, Nikki Beach bought a hotel in Talamanca - its supposedly opening summer 2008.

What month did you go to Ibiza? Each month can be quite different surprisingly.

The one piece of advice that most Ibiza-goers gave me is to make effort to meet new people. By making effort I mean go up to people and start a conversation. This is ideally what Ibiza is all about. Be very social. It�s the Balearic vibe!! Most of the people that go to Ibiza want to party and meet other partiers. It can be quite hard to just �approach� people because here in America we don�t really do that. In the USA most people like keeping to themselves or their clique. The first few days in Ibiza my brother and I just kept to ourselves. I began to feel like I was wasting my trip by not making full effort to meet new people. After the first few days I started to go up to random people to make conversation. You would be surprised how quickly you can make friends, and I can confidently say that all the groups of people I met in Ibiza wanted to meet new people too. You will also meet tons of people that live in Ibiza all summer� I wish I could do that! There was one group of people I met that worked at Space and they put me on the Carl Cox guestlist. It�s pretty easy to get club connections if you just be social. That is my sound advice for going to Ibiza, and it will REALLY make your trip a whole lot more fun!!

That's pretty good advice overall. We went last September so we caught a couple of the closing parties.

i've never understood the appeal of 5-star hotels. yeah it's nice to feel like you're living in the lap of luxury, but that comfort to me isn't worth $500/night! i can put my head down anywhere and wake up just as happy with that $500 in my pocket. imo the experience is much more grittier and authentic that way as well. the crowd at our 28/euro night hotel is probably much less stuffier and more like the young, budget, college-age party crowd we are. i'm all about deals on hotels, all i need really is a safe place to set my bags down and maybe a pillow. i don't think i could be happier with our accomodation unless we had a villa filled with tas for around the same cost.

when you get older you'll like the 5-star hotels.

the way we looked at it, any decent hotel is going to run 250-300 a night there. when you add in the free Pacha entrance ($150 for 2) plus the quality of the hotel, its worth it to us. we would have stayed at Es Vive if it was available (booked for part of our stay) and that would have been notably cheaper.

i've been-there-done-that with the budget accomodations when i was younger. i don't know why staying in a nice hotel makes the trip any less 'authentic'. if its all about the people and clubbing, who cares where you stay, be it a 1-stay budget hotel or a 5-star luxury hotel.

I suggest Jet Apartments in Playa D'en Bosa. Its right in the middle of the action outside of Bora Bora. A block or two away from Space.

Stay in San Antonio if you want to see loads of drunken Brits.

Stay in Santa Eularia if you want somewhere more city like, quieter and if you want to see kids all over the place.

I was just there last week.

My suggestions:

If you are there on a Friday night, make sure to go to Privilege.

Saturday Morning - Matinee party @ Space

Sunday - I love Space 24 hour party. 8 AM to 8 AM. $40 euros. You are allowed 1 re-entry. (If your strictly into trance then Judgment Sundays @ Eden is your place to go). If you still have energy Monday morning @ 8 AM go to DC-10. Any other morning go to Space...you can usually find 10 euro before 10 AM tickets anywhere on the street of Space. (Note: Beweare of Thursday Morning @ Space...its a promotion called Fake...there you can find the weirdest most awkward things one can see...like an old lady walking around. A man with his ass hanging out with white mack up on. A transvestite laying on a red bed...you are warned!)

Monday Night - Roger Sanchez @ Pacha

Tuesday Night - Armada @ Amnesia (if you like trance). Go to El Divino if your more in House. Carl Cox is also starting his weekly @ Space. Think its called King of Clubs.

Wednesday Night - Subliminal - Erick Morillo @ Pacha (Great Production!)

Thursday Night - Cream @ Amnesia (Names like Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond and Eddie Halliwell)
