I don't like much of any music coming out, now or ever. If you take every track released in every year, 2007, 1997, 1967, whatever... the majority of it is crap. Regardless of whether it's underground or overground, EDM or anything else.

That might be an okay strategy elsewhere, but around here that would probably land me at a rap or DnB night. I like some rap and DnB, but generally I like both of those a lot less than trance, and I don't find either of them very "entrancing"...

Certain marketing is good, like supporting a stand at an event and buying a t-shirt or something, sorta like a momento of a night out. What cheeses me off is those "trendy" stores that make haute couture out of DJs, rockers, etc. Seeing the Chemical Bros on a handbag is just wrong, agianst what EDM is all about, just like how grunge fans cringe at seeing purses with Kurt Cobain on it. Those bandwagon jumpers need a swift kick in the balls...

I think one day events are cool....gets a lot of people introduced to the music which is a great thing. As far as "concerts" go, I don't know about that. I don't think there's anything wrong with t-shirts and that type of promo. CD mixes, definitely not a bad thing, if the CD has a DJ name on it, I think it's fine, but definitely it's about the music, not necessarily the DJ. Someone mentioned trance is mainstream....where?? Not as far as I know. Okay, it gets some play on the radio, but not any classics, it's more vocal or as I like to call it, "pop" trance if you will. I however don't consider it to be very mainstream. I got into trance about 7 years ago, blindly. Seriously, I picked a random CD from a store, not knowing anything about the music & songs at all. These days, I know where to go to hear it being played. I know where to download from. It's great. I hope more people fall in love with trance.
