Aye, pobresito. You couldn't dance any other song/track with her?

....psssst, I need some lessons with my camera.

You guys call that a 5 hour set?

Posted by DjWoody on Aug-13-2007 23:56:

Hahaha, oh yea, we danced a lot. Hehehe

Why do girls get all emotional with Tiesto? OMG!!! She cried several times during his set. I saw other girls do that too. She had never seen Tiesto before and said that was her dream to see him live. And the day before she even drove from San Diego to see him at the Virgin Megastore. She got lucky she was able to take a picture with him.

hahahaha... she must be Mexican! Did she have a few shots of tequilla? I only get emotional when I hear Mariachis play. *wipes tear*

Posted by DjWoody on Aug-14-2007 00:07:

Yeah, she is Mexican. She doesn't really go to EDM events, except for the big festivals. But in the past, I've seen a few female TA's cry over Tiesto.

It was the gayest event I have ever been to. I never been to a gay night but it must go down like this. If there was a HIV warning, it was appropriate. Definitely, not worthed my $60.

But, people were still chanting tiesto at the parking lot after the show. I think he has the most fans as a dj.

whats this hiv news that had been goin around? i heard that supposedly pple with aids walk around and inject it into random people at raves and such events. just curious to whether thats just an urban legend? negative propaganda? what's the deal with that and is there any truth to that?

I also recalled right away when I heard that Orbital track, although I was expecting to hear some of those heavy beats from the original version!! He seemed to change to the next song fairly quickly though, i guess the younger crowd wasn't too into it..

Yup! It was about 9-10 minutes combined between track 18 and 19

i think that was the plan, TiC > no TiC

Posted by AmericnWldChild on Aug-14-2007 04:00:

ahahah that video is hilarious... listen to the gimp screaming in it.. oh and lets not forget.. TIC was a concept from 2003-2005 that featured "Trance all around the world" showcasing many different countries as the themes. That was the central and key point that made a differentiation between a regular event and a Tisto in Concert event.

2007 brought forth the Elements of Life World Tour which was meant to:
a. promote the new CD
b. have a similar environment to the previous big scale events with vocalists, specially made visuals, pyrotechnics, etc.

Although people say that all 2007 gigs were meant to promote the CD, the large-scale events like New York, Hasselt, Arnhem, and of course, Los Angeles were some of the very few stops for the "Elements of Life World Tour" and you can see the schedule on Tisto.com for the dates of these large scale events. When Insomniac started calling it TIC, I knew it was a big mistake and tryed emailing them about it but didn't get any replies. I think it was called that as a means of getting as many people as possible to get into the gig and they succeeded... Godskitchen in 2005 sold tickets for outrageous prices and the top concourse didn't fill up that year.

For the EOL Concert on Saturday, there were a hell of a lot more people and the ticket prices weren't as bad as 2005. They did a great job working with Giant but the only problem I had was the fucking event staff and getting people into the gig in an orderly fashion and on time... the idiots wanted to move the VIP line about 4-5 times as it was quickly filling up. VIP was supposed to get in on the Western entrance where the red carpet was and there was about 100-150 people in line when these clowns tried to move the 100-150 people to a different location just so these 7 people who claimed to be on the guestlist could get in. A sign pointed to the direction of the VIP area but there wasn't really a set place. The end result was the general admission line just about getting smashed with the VIP line thanks to the clowns who made that brilliant move... in 2005, the only good thing that happened was that the VIP went through a gate on the western side and ended up going through a side-tunnel area onto the bottom/main arena of the venue while it appeared that the General Admission people got in through the South or Eastern area. When I got in this Saturday with my VIP ticket, it was pretty disappointing to see about 200-300 general admission people already got inside possibly from the South or Eastern side. Oh and that vodka was pretty damn smooth!!! I had about 13-15 drinks the whole night and had a clean buzz... it wasn't a strong one but I can't believe I had so many drinks and kinda didn't feel the effects or give me any problems!! I'm going to look up that Vodka and try it again to see if it really was that good! Big thanks to whoever decided to let them sponsor the event!!!

Posted by Waterproofpaper on Aug-14-2007 06:11:

Man where i was on the floor, a lot of the people didn't know the songs that he played besides the ones he has in his CDs. I was up in the front and the only one singing Silence. Me and my buddy were the only people around who knew Moonlight Party. Highlights for me were, When the crowd was singing Love comes again, Cloudwalking, Moonlight Party, and C-Sharp. My friends thought i was insane when i was singing to C-sharp lol .

Im Glad im not the only one who heard it .

I took a lot of videos for my friend over in Iraq and Tiesto is one of his favorite DJs. The Bass owns my camera though .

A little info. about Tiesto's involvement with Dance 4 Life:

Where does your money go?

Any money raised through donations goes directly to the Dance4Life Schools Projects in the Global South (currently Dance4Life Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania, Vietnam).

The money raised through Dance4Life Schools Projects goes to HIV and AIDS projects via Dance4Life's National Concept Owners (NCOs: the organisations who conduct Dance4Life in the different countries) or their partners. They will spend it on projects aimed at young people, care, awareness, training and prevention in those areas of the world most affected by HIV and AIDS.

In Tanzania the funds raised go to a youth community anti-stigma programme in Zanzibar; and in the Netherlands all the money raised goes to projects in the Global South via their partners STOP AIDS NOW! In Germany the money raised by the young people went to two projects, Kashtan in the Ukraine, and Tila in Ethiopia (see below).

Below are some examples of projects supported by Dance4Life. How is the money for these projects raised?

Project examples

Tila, Ethiopia
This project supports young women who are living and who are affected by HIV and AIDS - women who are discriminated against, thrown out of home and ostracized because they are infected.

The Way Home, Odessa, Ukraine
This projects supports and helps the growing number of street children in Odessa. Two thirds of them are living with HIV.

Siyabhabha
South Africa is hit hard by the AIDS epidemic. The country has one million AIDS orphans. The day care Tumelong Haven of Siyabhabha in Pretoria is a safe place for these children: a place to play and get food. And a hug.

Ombetja
The Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) informs young people about HIV and AIDS through dance and theatre. And with success!

Sinikithemba
The Sinikithemba ('We give hope') HIV+ Choir is a group of HIV infected Zulu men and women from South Africa. They work in the McCord Hospital in Durban.

WIDE
Talking about sex in Uganda is taboo. Sex education in school? No way! The consequences? 80% of the HIV infections occur with the youth, and the average age of a woman to have her first child is 19. WIDE has principally been established to better the situation of young women and me, to discuss sex, and make contraception and health care available to them. Making them aware about safe sex and living with HIV and AIDS is the first step towards change.

I don't know anything about HIV needle rumors at the raves, but Tiesto's involvement and message with Dance 4 Life is about as far as anyone can get from spreading this disease further. It also has little to do with being gay: human beings get HIV, not races or sexual orientations. Anyone who thinks they're invincible should probably go get tested...

Haha, u remember Yeah I'm never going partying without them.

No need for 5-HTP either, I rather enjoy this feeling.

Probably not making it to NYE for Tiesto, can't wait until the next TiC though!

Posted by wma8706 on Aug-14-2007 06:45:

a lot of my friends went to the concert not being huge fans of EDC .....however they heard it was a some famous international DJ at a big event and wanted to party and check out the girls and see what the hype was about. Today they are all swinging off of Tiesto's nut sack....LOL!!! Best time of there life. If I were to just judge the performance compared to last 3-4 yrs at Miami music conference, TIC 2005 LA at Las Vegas, Mansion in south beach , Mexico, Ibiza and not to mention trance energey or amsterdam concerts..... I'd say the set was typical and mediocore compared to those others. Not to take anything away from PVD, Armin, Ferry and Oakie......But for what we get here in the U.S. ....it really doesn't get much better. I myself ...can't quite explain the magic and stage presence he commands...probably due to the over the top production. For all the tiesto critics and nay sayer...all I have to say is just thank him for keeping EDM alive for us.....love him or hate him....he will continue to draw the biggest crowd, party and new ears to this wonderful and diverse music. I still remember ...6 yrs back when all I knew was radio music rock/hip-hop...and thought trance or any EDC music was just strange techno. My first experience was seeing Sander K.....at Spundae... ....I was hooked after that!

What camera were you using for the video. The sound came through really good, most of the time they are overloaded like Woody's video.

Posted by BDGcharlie on Aug-14-2007 08:33:

it was amazing!

I just can't put it into words on how fucking kljsdfjklasfjkldjkl crazy it was and why do people hate "Love Comes Again" by tiesto. When tiesto spinned that track that night fucking the whole crowd was up on their feet rocking/raving.

Lol those videos weren't mine... I found them on Youtube because when I was writing the tracklist, I was at the bar while those tracks were playing so I had nothing to go off of... when I tried to record samples of those tracks so I could ID them later, the 2 videos for track 18 and 19 ended up not having any sound... just video so I looked on youtube and those videos were the only tracks that I didn't have in my tracklist so I knew where to place them. Then it was a matter of matching up just one of the videos posted on youtube to one of my videos without the sound and see if the visuals matched up. The 2 tracks got IDed and were placed into the tracklist.

If you want to know how to get a clean video, then check in the options and menus for your camera to see if it says anything about having a bass roll-off option... something in the range of 80-250 Hz so it records the audio with a high-pass (low-cut) filter so most of the melody is preserved and you get a video with nice, listenable audio. Some digital cameras, such as my own, don't have menus for bass roll off and having taken an acoustics class and audio engineering course, I learned about certain materials being able to absorb target frequencies (low range and bass in this example) so I got a piece of cloth with a high absorption coefficient targeted at 250 hertz and taped it over my microphone. It actually fell off somewhere before I was able to record so I made something similar at the gig... I ripped off a piece of foam from my earplug and used the sticky party of one of my wristbands to hold it over the mic. It kind of worked but it fell off then I kept my finger over the mic but lots of bass still came inside the mic.

Your best bet is to email the camera companies if you'd like to buy a model for recording good videos especially for EDM events like this one. I am hearing from lots of people (and seeing through their videos) that the Sony Cybershot model seems to record videos with heavy bass very well and I think as soon as heavy bass gets picked up, the microphone automatically rolls off the bass for you. Try checking them out as I am going to buy a Cybershot model very soon especially for recording videos like this with high bass levels

word. i live in san jose, and i wasn't even considering the bill graham party, even with all my friends going. $75 at the door for a 3 hr Tiesto set just turned me off. They had other DJ's and 2 other rooms, but I heard only the main room actually had people. I was pretty pissed off that we had an expensive "mini-TIC" up here..

I instead flew down to LA for the weekend and had a BLAST. On Sat, Roscoe's for lunch, shopping, then dinner at Lawry's and then heading to the TIC @ LA Sports Arena. Awesome.

That's exactly what I did. Driving from San Jose was worth it.

I had a great time! It was a much more clubber/more mature crowd than most massives but that was a good thing. I ended up going alone because my friends were on the floor and I didn't have a floor ticket.

I did have to wait in line for 2 hours because the line was ridiculously wrong and then I discovered I had an upstairs ticket after waiting for an hour, and had to go to the VIP entrance for which the line was 1/2 as long as the regular line but when I went inside it was comfortable and there was room to dance so it wasn't too bad.

I had an upstairs ticket so I was dancing upstairs in the aisle. I was dancing next to some random cool people who I ended up talking to and grooving with.

Turns out I was dancing next to a guy who was 1 of 5 people from LA to go see Daft Punk at Red Rocks. (I was one of the other 5 people). So its a small world because the chances of us running into each other and talking at something like Tiesto in Concert are very low.

Tiesto was better than I expected. He played a lot of hard stuff (mostly during the Fire set) and he wasn't as poppy as I expected. He played some great classics. Probably one of my favorite moments was when he played Fonzerelli - Moonlight Part and Lethal Industry.

I don't really like his new stuff including Dance4Life (not the best song) but the visuals during that song were amazing so it balanced out.

He was pretty mellow until his Fire set and then that was really fun. I was around great people with a great vibe and that made it even more fun and possible to do some good old fashioned dancing straight for many hours.

(I am really glad I drank a vitamin energy drink! It doesn't make you hyper like other energy drinks but it gives you energy for the whole night so you don't get tired.)

So much fun! Although catching a cab at 4AM on the corner of Figueroa and MLK was a bit like fighting in the jungle but it all worked out.

I am really glad I went.
