I get my music from record stores and distributors, and I even have a drop box where people can upload stuff for me, but this track I just got off Beatport. It just kind of stood out from the rest of the predictable minimal electronic things that I seem to listen to endlessly. I have no idea who it is, no clue whatsoever, but it really grabbed me. And it's not just this one track that's good either. Most of what Deadmau5 has done recently has been really good. It's that kind of electronic house sound.
Francois K

some kind words there..

I think Jaded which is quite similar to FB is much better.
Haven't heard too much of this guy, but i think tracks like "Lai" is much more interresting.

So do I... Some nice works he's got there.

Just saw him play at the Guvernment 11 anniversary, and he was awesome!

Yeah his music was fun, but he has this awesome bounce when he DJs. Just makes you want to dance yourself.

fixed, IMO.

I don't know why you "fixed" that to say DJ? Most of this topic has been about his prodctions, only 1 or 2 posts about his djing maybe.
Prodcuution wise, this is some sick stuff overall.
Djing...well I saw him last night, and it became very evident he's a producer first and foremost.. I'll leave it at that.

Live performance isn't djing

yay. another chinstroker.

i remember when i used to go to a club just to have a good fuckin time, and listen to good music. i guess i dont look cool enough coz i dont use CDjs.

oh well... maybe i'll run out and grab a pair of CDjs n practise all that so i can look like a real DJ and learn how to do that neat...cdjing stuff.

meh. it is what it is bro.

Posted by daphunky1 on Oct-14-2007 21:48:

That wasn't meant to be harsh dude. I know it is what it is, and I enjoyed your show (in Vancouver). I was just stating what I thought, and by the sounds of it, what you already know. Sure get cdj's is you want to be a "real dj" like you mentioned. It wasn't about looking cool enough, you looked like you were having a pretty good time, which is more than I can say about some performances.
Also when you go to a club not knowing a single person, its harder just to walk around and have a good time and not pay close attention to the set.

So is anyone who uses a laptop now considered a live performance?

i'd think so.

live performances meet my bare minimum definition of a DJ which is a person who plays tracks with deliberately programming by the person using a form of media.

But it's not 'traditional' DJing as we know it.

do you think live PA performances are DJing then?
