Honestly, there's so much bullshit on this thread. Jules if your style of trance is so amazing, go and push it, go and write it, and go and sell it and if it's as good as you say it is then people will be lining up to suck your cock like they do AVB. Until then STFU ****s

and you follow the English whilst living in Australia.

absolutely. but musicians have more of both, assuming they have some talent. you will find musicians are far more capable of judging what sounds good and what doesn't. same as a zoologist would know more about animals than a political scientist

ok lets run with the zoologist example. an analogy of understanding music. Political science is not analogous to critic.

Lets say someone gets thier degree and does honours on koalas or some shit. They read every bit of literature ever written on them and can recite fact after fact. That is, the "muso".

Then theres the person who works for national parks, didnt even finish highschool, but has worked in mending up sick and injured koalas for the last 10 years. The critic.

Now don't get cuaght up in me writing about koalas, but the main point is, the 2nd person would probably know more abou koalas by simply being around them, then dissecting them etc. Same applies to music critics.

anyway, i think everyone's tuned out by now, so go enjoy the sun.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Sep-09-2007 04:10:

actually gumble, id reverse those two situations, imo its the muso thats the one dissecting the koalas

anywayz, you know i still want your babies

lol at teflon and aesthetic.

ROFL seems the most sucessfull current AU TA producer is the one who hardly commments on here LOL

IN GENERAL

Trance is the only genre worth listening to and it's far superior to every other genre. 'I' love it therefore it MUST be the most brilliant!

I've never even heard any Techno, House, Electro, Minimal, Psy, DnB, Hardstyle, Hardhouse, Prog or Breaks. What's that? Pffft! I'm an expert of pretty much everything in music (I've been a musician for 18yrs but i just haven't learned to read/write music or play an instrument YET!) As an expert I believe these 'other' genres to be SHIT and have no place in the EDM world!!

Call me arrogant if you want but unless your expertise overshadows mine (highly fucking doubtful) your opinion on any other type of music (if you could call it that) is completely invalid.

The advice I'm about to give is free:

Listen to Trance and be cool like me. You too can be an expert in being purposefully narrow minded to piss off all the uncool people that listen to 'weird shit'

P.S You 'may' think that I'm full of myself, not true, I'm just heaps better than you all (prob cuz I listen to trance ... and nothing else!!)

Yeah I think Steve May is too busy in China at the moment he he he

Internet forums still after all these years can make me laugh (or cringe). The fact of the day is you rarely see any of the real artists of the scene getting involved in petty attention seeking pissing contents as they are too busy playing gigs and working on tunes.

Jules if you are really over it the way you keep preaching that you are, why still bother with the forums?

it just means i can be more honest.....or make a fool of myself

Personally I think playing music that you dont appreciate... to a crowd, to get them to have a good time... is far worse than stating your opinion, and standing up for it. In fact, I'm inclined to show respect for the latter - irrespective of whether I agree with their opinion.

Absolutely. I can't stand DJs who don't love what they are playing. I mean, wtf? Sure, sometimes you get boxed into a genre on a particular night due to a shitty promoter or the need to pay the bills, but generally a DJ should love what he/she is playing.

yeah i wouldn't really call him a "TA" producer if he doesnt really post

ergo

mike nichol is not a TA producer,

concordantly that must mean he isn't a very successful one either

how the fuck would you know?

Posted by stipsy on Sep-10-2007 04:47:

i dont think jules main argument is wrong..

75% of the tracks on ASOT are generic and sound crap (same goes with the genre in general)...i still love armin though

its normal for djs today to hide their true feelings about songs, djs, genres etc..theres nothing wrong with that because at the end of the day they are protecting their own "brand" and it doesnt help if they start bad mouthing too much or it could have an adverse effect on their own careers.

out of curiousity...does walter78 actually exist or is he mike nichol?

Only when I have had conversations with DJs who have played shithouse music who tell me they only dropped those tracks in their set... because the punters like them. Its a bit like a producer who writes tracks he doesnt dig himself, knowing that more people would go out and buy it.

name me any genre that isnt 75% rubbish...
