I think we have this convo way too often about certain local dj's and their musical selection. It pays their bills when they spin bs in the mainstream clubs/bars, bottom line. Only place I know in this town where the dj can spin whatever the fuck he wants is Dolce on Thursday nights and I guess over at Rain on Fridays (still havent been yet to confirm).

i agree!! they just do it for the money, they dont care what the play as long as they get paid. That's why i had to quit Saturday nights at The Suite. Managers asked me to start playing hip hop, so i had to say:

"Thank You for the opportunity, but FUCK NO!!"

i dont do this for the money, so hope to see some of you at Kenneth Thomas where i can play whatever the @#^%#$@ i want

Just kidding about not being able to play KT songs at the gig but get this..PVD's camp wrote me again on myspace..I tell you no lies. this is what they said after I told them word around the campfire was he didn't want to play this event to begin with

Not even close. Unfortunately travelling on the sunday of a holiday weekend from outside the US was a mess to begin with and all possible flights to get to San Antonio were cancelled. Paul was going to taking several flights to make it and got ill in canada.

And if that is true about PVD, that is bullshit. There was a damn packed crowd that night after alot of people already left due to him not performing. Sometimes people prefer to pay at the door asshole.

I'm from the Jefferson area originally, but moved South. We had a BBQ on Sunday night complete with Mexican barrell fire to keep us warm.

Good times...

Probably gonna be throwing something like that sometime in December for my brothers bday. Right on Stonewall passing Pleasanton.

I'll be throwing the best in polka, folk, and ambient noise You should make it out there man.

You guys should get this months Texas Monthly. There is a pretty good article on the economic growth and the diverse areas of SA, complete with commentary from the adulterous Henry Cisneros

I still like that fool...even if he cheated on his gorgeous wife with an ugly woman. He's like a Chicano Prince Charles.

Even if he is or isn't sick, I highly doubt he'll make up the date. That show was his last on the continent for a while. I think he's going back to Europe then Australia after that.

We shall see... I hope they don't take long to make that decision because I want my money back asap if he's not gonna make it up.

You have obviously NEVER worked with a booking agency or read a contract. Artist dont get paid not to show up. in other words you cant just say well i got mine now you dont get your's (that is only what you say to your girlfriend) If he plans on returning it will be a date that he sets with the promoters in san antionio. Unfortunally when artist resets dates it is usually what ever day they want and have free. But they do reset it. if they dont then everyone who purchased a ticket online will get a refund. if they are saying no refunds avaliable then keep your ticket beause there will be a rescheduled date in the future.

And for supporting the locals they are half the life of most these parties. so yes there are a lot of people that come out to see the locals play. Bruce is a very good dj i would watch him play ever chance i get when i am in town.

Anyone buying a ticket for any show in San Antonio should just accept the fact that there is a good chance it won't happen. I would get my money back.

I know he's not getting paid if he doesn't perform. I would prefer not to be in limbo about knowing whats going to happen with the show. I'd be more than glad to attend if he can manage to squeeze in the makeup date. But lets face it, flying back and forth between continents is not easy to squeeze in for just one date (if indeed the only reason he is coming back is to make up the date).

And more than once I've seen Bruce and Dave spin. I didn't have the free time to stick around and see them spin unfortunately, I only made time for PvD because he doesn't come around that often.

And I have read a few contracts or so considering I'm in law school right now, so I have some sort of idea how they work.

I didn't play this one, so my feelings aren't hurt : )
