What do you mean by "brick"?

Apple has done nothing to stop 3rd party software from being developed for the iPhone and iPod touch... they've even gone on record saying they wouldn't, so if you're insinuating Apple somehow "broke" people's phones for having 3rd party software on them, you're wrong - no matter what you read on the internet.

when a phone is "bricked" it won't function because of software problems.

Erm, I don't know about the drag & drop WiFi issue for sure, but you are definitely able to download files.

If I can get ahold of something to make a video, I'll try to put one up.

And speaking of crack - I can't wait until some start showing up for this thing, even random software hacks would be nice.

I know it can be done thorugh iTunes WiFi store. It would be awesome if you didn't have to use iTunes though.

brick = becomes a brick.
same as becoming a paperweight.
except all these rectangular devices would make for perfect bricks
Nintendo DS, PSP, Ipods, etc

sick!

Posted by RJT on Oct-16-2007 03:15:

I went through the process of jailbreaking mine tonight (there isn't a single step GUI hack for PPC based Macs yet, so it was a bit of a process), but I now have a GPS program, NES, Sketches, Mail, Notes, Maps, and Weather running.

Best. Investment. Ever.

Yea I want one but I don't want to play into the whole I need apple shit to make me koo so I plan on buying it when someone I know steels one lol. I'm not spending 460 some bucks and then another 100 for better headphones which apple makes exclusively mind you.

1. If you're paying $460 bucks for it, you're an idiot - plain and simple.

B. Since when is Apple the only company that makes headphones?

I won't update the firmware again until it's been cracked again

Everything is running great so far except for Mail - and I think I just need to track down a specific file and replace it to get that to work, so shouldn't be a problem.

huh?

Posted by RJT on Oct-16-2007 03:54:

I'll definitely keep you posted on how everything runs/works out, and the nice thing is that at this point, I have a copy of the 1.1.1 Firmware on my HD, and I know how to do a manual restore, so if/when I ever need to update the firmware I know I can restore it to a state where there really isn't a chance for it to become "bricked."

Side note, Apple has openly come out and stated they won't pursue malicious means of deterring 3rd party software, but that should someone update their firmware and then realize their 3rd party apps don't work anymore, Apple won't take any responsibility.

Seems fine to me.

maybe reread the name of the app. i mean ANY SIM just jumps out at me and says ANY SIM. considering we all know that phones are locked here in the states and all.

Why in fucks name would I want to do that? I have a cheap cell phone plan as it is, I don't care to switch service providers, my old MP3 player was stolen, and this does everything I want it to and more - and I got it for almost $80 less than retail.

So yeah, there are plenty of reasons, or "points," for having this. Way to try too hard though.

Posted by BTG on Oct-16-2007 04:13:

somones a little touchy about his itouch.

lol pun.
