I own a pair of JBL Control 25 Passive monitors.
I run them through a Cambridge Audio 350A Amplifier.
I use M-Audio BX5a monitors and I was very surprised by the quality! The bass is full and the overall sound is perfect. Very compact as well.
Bought a Mackie SRM150 so I'll be able to tell you if they are ok as personal PA monitor

Verdict
Returned it. Nice idea. Sound doesn't kick enough. Or sound great at all.

Which ones sound better?
B2030A
or
B2031A
I'm not sure how you'd compare two different sized monitors from the same manufacturer to determine which sounds "better" - really depends on what your needs are, non? The b2030a is smaller version of the b2031a - check the specs sheet, which covers both models, on the Behringer site.
For the price, the 2031A's are great. As mentioned earlier, though.. don't plan on mixing for a party or something where you need a lot of power to overcome other noise. They're perfect for studio use, though. Plenty of power- great sound.
how about logitech z2300...just for studio monitoring?

QSC K8 speakers
I just picked these up because of a recommendation from my friend who is in a band.
When I heard them at guitar center I was floored. 1000W powered $650 each. Bass like you will not believe. Accurate as a studio monitor but loud enough to play any house party or lounge. No hiss either for such a huge amp. Weigh 25 lbs. each.
Take a listen when you go to guitar center. Bring your iPod and a mini to RCA adapter since these bad boys have RCA ins.
You will have to hear it to believe it.

QSC k8
Oh yeah. In 15 years of djing I haven't heard any speakers like these. When you hear them... You will get that club sound you are looking for. No BS just read the reviews.
Everyone here should at a min take a listen.
There are alot of decent speakers out now. These have the sound that we have been searching for since the beginning.

Qsc k8 field report
Last night's house. Party was only getting started when I showed up with the K8 speakers.
Assoon as hooked them up people almost imediately started getting up to dance. For some reason the sound coming from these presses some button with people and magically they begin to move.
Even not so danceable songs had a beefy sound.
Crazy can't say enough about them.
Behringer products are cheap mass produced trash, for $400 you can get such better monitors. Mackies, JBLs, and KRK are all much better choices. Check out this super cheap pair of Mackies I'm selling on eBay, they've got less than 5 hours of use on them, original boxes + warranty too.

I've been using RP5s for production and for general listening for a few years now. They are more of a glorified hi-fi speaker and hopefully the Mackie HR824s they're being replaced with will actually let me do some solid mixing. Fuck KRKs low end.
Ok, so by reading the entire topic, I only saw 2 suggestions for passive monitors: JBL Control 25 & KRK ST-8'.
I need to run the speakers through my home theater amplifier, because I only have a DJM-300, which don't have XLR connectors. Any other suggestions for passive speakers ? Or which one of the 2 would you recommend the most for DJing purposes ?
B2031P?
... thank you
