Well I think I found the name of the song. It seems to be UNKLE - Burn My Shadow (UNKLE remix). I think it was actually another remix of the song, but I guess there's no way to be certain. (maybe someone else can help?)
And Opera is not that bad, it's pretty much the same as Eleven50. Apparently they are moving away from the hip hop theme since there was a shooting there after the BET music awards. The sound system is great, it has nitrous, and it looks sweet on the inside. What else do you want from it? When events are held at the Tabernacle, at WetBAR, at Compound, at Masquerade, at North Atlanta Trade Center... all of these venues are completely different styles. Opera is a club, and it does well at it. Those other places aren't clubs at all (except Compound). If you travel to other big cities with clubs like that, you'll find that other clubs have many many drawbacks that Opera doesn't.
i had a good buzz going last night but i thought Oakenfold didn't do THAT bad. his style of music doesn't really do it for me anyways, but I must say there were a lot of young kids in there, and just like a lot of us, it was OLD school trance and jungle and big names of certain genres that got us into this music in the first place (and have thus made us obsessed with the music for life). i left after Oakie played Colombian Soul which I think is a killer track, and i don't know what happened to me because i didn't hear Hybrid play it the first time, but maybe it was early on in the night before i got there. i thought Hybrid did a great job though setting the mood right.
as far as the club goes, i think it looks real nice inside, but i definitely miss the feeling of Eleven50. the sound system appears to sound much better now, but those plastic handrails on both sides of the club's main room on the floor have got to go. I think the couches laying around the main floor are a waste of space as well. give me more room to dance, and let me see the DJ a little better (without having to pay $20). i'm sure i'll go back because personally i just catch myself grinning when i see a packed out place like that (as a reminder, i was tipsy), however, Chris B was right on when he said the crowd is the Compound type crowd (for those of you who need a mental description, the tight shirt wearing 6'8" roided out monster with the hot as hell tiny 5ft skanky dressed girl with balloon tits). we all see them, we all think... "are they porn stars? they look real good... but hmmm, i hope i don't catch anything if i go talk to them." moving on... even the young kids seem Compound-ish, but maybe with time the music will change their ways!

I really like Opera. I wish the dj booth was on ground level. I see it that way at other clubs and think it would be better. I think the fog machine is a nice touch. Of course some of the crowd isn't ideal, but that happens at all types of shows.
Anyways, maybe I don't have as good of ear as some of you, because I really didn't hear that bad of mixing from Oakenfold. I highly enjoyed his track selection. Even thought the red hot chili peppers remix was kind of cool.
I probably would have left if I had known KT was going to finish off the night. I thought Oakie was coming back on. Speaking of KT, I was shaking my head when he started playing anthem. I liked it the first time I heard it at the PVD show, but now I think it's crap. Does anyone know what that melodic song was he played near the end of his set? I believe the lyrics included "Look in the mirror."
Isn't look in the mirror words that were in Anthem?

Well, that's why I always hated that song. It sounds like two potentially good songs bred together to make a single annoying one.

What are everyone's expectations when they go out clubbing... From reading some of the posts I think they are unrealistic...

look, i hear what you're saying... but honestly put it into perspective.
you guys (i don't mean YOU, i mean us in general) expect incredible songs, spot on mixing, beautiful crowds, and employees that will kiss your ass. you expect no line outside, parking right in front of the club, cheap drinks, no lines in the bathroom, etc. the fact is, these people deal with assholes all night long. while you and i might be respectful and hope for the same treatment, think of how many drunk, dumb, high, idiots these guys and girls have to deal with on a daily basis.
truth is clubbing as an overall experience SUCKS ASS. i guess i've been doing it for long enough that my expectations are just so low now that i'm rarely disappointed. i'm not trying to sound jaded, lol, just saying that i don't expect the 2nd coming of Christ at a show either. if shit happens it can ruin the night, and hopefully that didn't happen for anyone here. overall i had a great night and though the music was good, the people were okay, and i was with friends... what more could i really want. and i could care less that oakenfold played the same song that hybrid did... they're two different sets! haha.
