His essential mix from 2005 is one of my like top 2 sets ever, so Ill always give him a try. He was boring the last 2 times I saw him (both last year) so I guess he hasnt improved at all since.
And I also think its cause he lazy. Or he just has so much shit going on that he cant keep up with what hes really here to do: put on kick-ass live shows.

Talk like that is for people who still enjoy eating too many e-pillz in hopes that one day they'll actually reach those lasers. |
but then again, i havent seen hin nearly as many times or spent as many hours listening to and analyzing his music like you have
i own some cds, went to a couple parties and have heard a set or two
im not a big fan of recorded sets, i dont know what it is, i think too much is lost contextually

definitely getting some bites this evening that's for sure :P
quit the the bitching and post a set that you fanboys cream over.
E-pillz!
Never done them for Sasha, only meth+Vicodin combo, his set seems to go by so fast though
i saw James & Hernan Cattaneo B2b
James Lavelle
Sasha & Digweed b2b in 2005 in MWC, on e pillz...incredible party escept for the lavelle bit.

this thread is both hilarious, and hilariously interesting.
personally, for me there are a lot of DJs who are totally hit or miss when it comes to their live shows, recorded livesets, CDs, productions/remixes, waffle cooking skills, etc...
i absolutely loved Sasha's EM from this year. the first 30 minutes of it make me want to have whorish dirty sex with fuzzy little rabbits under a sky filled with rainbows and twinkling fairy dust. i thought the flow was excellent, and all the tracks he played were very melodic and interesting. i don't think i ever expected him to play the same style when i saw him on Friday, and i don't know if i even would have enjoyed hearing it while out at a club. it's just one of those sets that i always listen to while i'm at work or in my car.
when i saw him at Glass during WMC '06, his set was so fucking epic. easily one of the best nights of music i've heard in my life (although i think that also had something to do with the flawless opening set from Luke Fair), and that's saying a lot because i was actually feeling really shitty that night, and i still enjoyed every single minute of it.
there are actually very few DJs who i know will blow me away and make me reach for the lazers every single time i see them. Sasha just isn't one of them. but like Clovis said, there are always those exceptions and i'd still keep giving him chances in hopes that he'll wow me again.

I have always loved Sasha, been devoted to him, going to every show he plays in LA and often driving up to San Francisco to hear him spin as well. His music defined by early days of clubbing more than any other Dj, but his sets lately have been mediocre at best. Where has the energy gone in his music? I saw him at Vanguard a few weeks back and nearly fell asleep, I'm not joking, it was painful to listen. To me, John Digweed has maintained his connection with the dancefloor, playing strong music, but not Sasha.
I hate saying this

it didn't have shit for flow. But as everyone's said no matter what he always seems to have that epic night up his sleeve just as you think you're done with him.
