haha i didn't know what that bocce ball till i came here and saw all the old ppl playing it outside. They are hardcore too. Sometimes playing as late as 9 pm!

that's awesome that AV1 got to enjoy something that wasn't trance! I got Chris Liebing & Joris Voorn this thursday and maybe i'll do paolo mojo friday!

I have never heard all of them but I am extremely stoked for Thursday nights Techno madness!! Plus I hear ntohing but great things from everyone about how nice this club is!!

The crowd for trance just sucks everywhere. As much as I love the music I have skipped out on big trance parties up here cuz it's at wack venues, with wack ppl.

go see Mojo! really good tech house style dj who plays some of the sickest bass driven beats out there, love it!

Liebing is dope.You'll enjoy him if you like the hard stuff.Whe he came lasttime during Meganite he destroyed it.Some even said he was better than Picotto.

As for Voorn he's deffinitly at the forefront of techno right now.Love all of his set's that i've herd.

Paolo is a very good dj from the sets that i've herd.I haven't seen him yet but I can still remember Neil and Ryan telling me how good he was lasttime he was in Miami outside of WMC.I really trust there taste in music so i'm sure he's top notch.

Liebing @ Meganite WMC with Picotto in 2005 was amazing. Overall one of the best nights of music I ever witnessed

i wasnt happy with the show and we left at 5am. how late did it go to?

he played a non melodic set, it was too repetitive. he usually has more variety, like vocals here and there, something to break the monotony. i got the impression he was just up there practicing new abelton plugins or techniques, it felt like something he would do alone at home practicing. i say this because i know what he's capable of from all the livesets ive been hearing from him the past 2 years.

it was still a good show and it was quality, but i still wasnt happy. it might have been the lsd i took, probably not the right drug for the set he played. i think he was playing more towards the k crowd that night.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. But U R the only one I've heard or read say anything negative about Hawtin's set. Oh well, I think U R right though, it probably was the cid U took

And thank God he did not play 'melodic' and a shitload of vocals. Save the melodies and continuous vocals for commercial house and trance. Real techno is not melodic or vocal-filled. Hawtin repeatedly built that room up and then broke it down properly IMO.

BTW he was playing for the music crowd, not for some particular drug-taking crowd. How is a hard driving techno/minimal set geared towards one drug or another? Worse yet how would it be geared to idiots stupid enough to take K @ a club? It's fucking cat tranquilizer & all that shit does is put you to sleep and in a serious hole, which is hardly conducive to enjoying a high-energy non-stop tech set like he dropped.

So drink more, and take less hardcore drugs next time. You may enjoy it more.

i dont mean melodic and vocal as in commercial house. i mean melodic in the flow of a set. it sounds like you havent heard much hawtin sets, no offense. have you heard sets when he plays tracks that have vocals like "R U OK", or "mumbling yea", or "im a man (audion mx)", "honeymoon's over (konrad black mx)", "like a child (carl craig mx)". ill stop there i could go on and on. not one track that night he played had a vocal. its not even about tracks with vocals though, just melody in the flow of a set would be nice. his set that night had none, it was like one long track with blowups.

and news flash, a lot of people snort k in the bathroom at clubs. when you (read:) -dont do too much- you feel like you're floating a little, the room becomes brighter, you can hear the tiniest little pin drop of details of sound. which is perfect for stripped down music. so yea it is conducive. /education

the set richie played is the same thing every big name dj plays regardless of genre. 90% of the time they dont really fully "bring it" for each set. they play multiple times per week, and when on tour ... almost nightly. so this is just the kind of thing that happens when you play that often. wmc is proof of that.
