Hmmm. How so? I thought his mixing was brilliant during Balance 008.

Anyway's, I'm looking damn forward to the release of this puppy.

Was Balance 008 live mixed?

No. I'm pretty sure it was pre-programmed. However, I'm fairly certain he mixed with CDJ's instead of software mixing. Which from what I understand is how a lot of other Balance mixes were put together (I could be wrong on this however).

As in at a club? With an audience? That's what I consider to be 'live mixed'. If so, news to me and extra impressive than.

+1. and, in that case, i can understand that Desyn was pissed

otherwise, if its studio-mixed, i cant understand why he would be pissed

i'm pretty sure Desyn has mentioned in interviews that it was mixed live, but at home.

Fresh and low - Soul Vibration (Paul Hughes remix)
Maybe? I don't know. I know it's from one of his Kiss 100 sets (obviously) but he's only done 3, and I couldn't figure it out.

I actually really like the Intro track (Which happens to be the last track on disk 2 of Balance:008). Karu - Maraud Your Ears (Tim Paris We Almost Lost Detroit Mix), I'd love to use this in a mix of my own. However, it is the most difficult piece of music I've come across to mix in and out of. Anyone else had a difficult time with this particular track, and were actually able to find another track that worked well with it?

RJT used to use that as a closer at house parties at the castle up in Stevens Point. maybe he can offer some insight.

sick track. i've never even tried mixing it but i love listening to it.

oh, also you might want to check out Ewan Pearson's Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi. -- he mixes it with Brazilian Girls - Don't Stop (Riton Re-Rub) and Spirit Catcher - Key Generator.

What are you playing on?

I used to just use an 8 beat loop on a CDJ 800 at the beginning of the tune and mix using that. It was almost always a relatively quicker transition too - it's definitely a rough piece of music to mix, especially you want to get those stabbing synths in the beginning, but if you just practice I'm confident you'll figure it out. I've definitely wrecked it quite a few times, but once you get it down it's boat loads of fun to mix.

I'm using Serato with a pair of Tech 12's. So, I can definately do the looping at the beginning (something I definately haven't tried yet). All I've tried thus far is smooth transitions in from the last track and those awkward stabs make it sound like a trainwreck from hell (even when beatmatched perfectly).

I thought of taking Desyn's approach and bringing the track in from about the 2 minute mark of the track and on, but just haven't devoted that much time to it yet.

Now with that tip, I'll definately give it a second chance. Thanks.
