Thats what happens when you open in a massive...

I hope they dont do the same to you on monday

Also you have to understand that Tonic CLub Lounge is in the same building... they maybe didnt want to overkill the sound and disturb the other club when people are only coming in

havent been to a party like that since the sona days

Im kinda sad i missed half of Sander's set cuz my friend wanted to leave
But honestly..what a Venue !

Ah, after a solid sleep I can give a proper review:

Since a storm was coming we decided to park underground in the AMC, and what a good investment! left our coats in our car, and we didn't have to wait in line!...

Overall:
like everybody has been mentioning, incredible lighting and wow the sound system.....Tribe really know what their doing. Cool venue (haha in a mall), it got full really fast, in a matter of about 45 min the place was packed. Didn't really pay attention to Spooky's first half of the set, but their last half was really something, really smoothing the way for Sasha to open

Sasha & Digweed
One of the best, if not, best complete sets I've heard, exactly what i was expecting, my hopes were high and didn't really get disappointed, however being a hardcore Digweed fan, i must say Sasha blew him out of the water (+1 for you Alex hahha), i know Digweed's role was to slow things down when he plays with Sasha, don't get me wrong, he still played great, just enjoyed Sasha more. His intro was spectacular, started off slow then began to rip it, the whole set me and my friend only recognized a handful of songs, and was a little disappointed that i didn't get to hear, COMA, Mongoose or Digweed's Gridlock, you can tell they were on their A game, testing a lot of new stuff out, excellent set....can go on for hours!!!

some songs that i recognized:
Butch - On The Line (Oxia Remix)
Underworld - Beautiful Burnout (Mark Knight Remix)
Jerome Isma-ae & Melih Ask - Nell (Joe T Vannelli Remix) (I THINK)
Meat Katie & D Ramirez ft Odissi - Stop The Revolution Pt 1 (Dubfire's Arrowhead Dub Mix)
Swoop - Black Market (Butch Remix)
Pig & Dan - Sly Detector (LOVE THIS SONG! WAS AWESOME LIVE)
Plastikman - Spastik (Dubfire Rework)
Supermayer - Glock-A-Pella (USED IT AS AN OUTRO)

Sander K
was excited to see him again, since that magical night at stereo (06). He started excellent, playing some heavy progressive tunes, perfect changeover from S&D, but then started playing that mainstream house, which was good, but I was such in the S&D mood, didn't want to hear that stuff. Can't really complain, having a DJ such as Sander K to close a party is pretty impressive, so i still had a great time! great music from Sander

some songs that I recognized:
Underworld - Beautiful Burnout (Mark Knight Remix)
Junkie XL ft Lauren Rocket - More (Matthew Dekay Remix)
Kurd Maverick production, don't know which one cant remember
Dave Spoon - At Night vs. ID Vocal

Overall, a great great night, met a lot of people: the_devil, other non-TAs,

nice seeing iLLnaDa, Enjoy, Darv, Stereohead, and the crew!

FRESH TALENT....AWESOME VENUE...GREAT VIBE....INTENSE LIGHTING/SOUND

Tribe nailed it

its good to see such awesome reviews - can't wait to party it up in mtl!
Still waiting on those pics.. malek

The Chemical Brothers track & vid are sick. At first I was like "hmm ok, this video can't be all like this" and then i realized that each image coincided with each sound & that made me trip out. Love it!!!!

Posted by Mortyman on Dec-31-2007 00:16:

There's nothing I can say that wasn't already said!

Unfuckingbeleievable! You folks in Montrela really know how to party! I've had a taste of the party scene in many different parts of the world. but you guys.... YOU GUYS... know how to do it proper!!
Unfortunaely I HAD to miss Sander's set, but S&D, the venue, the women, and the whole party itself was truly an experience I never expected to have

Here my pics on facebook... I have some awesome vids to come as well!
Does anyone know how to rotate a video, I videotaped some shots on the side angel like a picture

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?a...05880050&ref=mf

Oh, and because we got there so early, they were still setting it all up so there's heaps of pics of the place totally empty with the dj booth and lights

The reason for low sound was because the last Cinema movie was playing till around 1 am, that's why we couldn't put the full volume.

Amazing party. I can't believe how well that went. More later.

I thinnk in toronto their set would not be so dirty and funky cause not everyone can handle it.

Lol, wtf is this, and what is it based on? Toronto and Montral are different, and both have their ups and downs, but asserting something like this is a bit ridiculous IMO.

what i find more ridiculous is that he/she found it "funky, groovy, filthy and dirty" while theres really only one word to describe what they played "bangers". never have i seen sasha play so hard with no direction (i'm now under the impression that mtl likes it harder)

Posted by iLLnaDa on Dec-31-2007 06:10:

I still can't get over how amazing this party was ....TUNE of the night for me was most definitely Pelle Buys-Come into my world (Chaim remix) Hearing this on that sound system was incredible I have never felt so good about hearing a track in a club as much as I did when Sasha dropped it. This moment is now marked in my memory forever

few more vids.. still with crappy quality and sound

this shows the insane light show fairly well..

Digweed - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUeEU0pYRv0

man, the sound is hideous haha.. freakin camera phones.

Posted by goodgreef on Dec-31-2007 07:06:

holy, the lighting looks INSANE!

Posted by rog2kay on Dec-31-2007 07:45:

I would love to know what tracks they played besides the one mentioned

Posted by Zinger on Dec-31-2007 08:06:

the party was off the fuckin hook!

best massive i have ever been to for sure.

Sasha & Digweed were sick. Very dark and dirty, like the old S&D.

Im very down to hear what Luke Native said, best party since the sona days.

I went to a go see a movie at AMC tonight, i can never look at this place the same now!

Sander was sick too. Call it cheese, call it whatever you want, he played good music. Vocals do not equal cheese. Only complaint? Sasha & Digweed should have closed, with Sander opening. Sasha & Digweed were the real stars of the night. Not a big deal tho.

I think Sander's second to last track was Mimosa - End of Me, he also played Maskio - Mia Casa and he was going NUTS when he was playing it.

i really hope Tribe did well for themselves, because i want this to be an annual thing. Same time, same place, even the same fuckin DJ's every YEAR!!

Anyone else notice how some beat was looped for like 5 minutes between the Sasha & Digweed and sander switch on the decks?

And does anyone know if know if this was recorded?

- I kept thinking to myself this is what CiRCA should have been like. I don't normally care for lighting but they had a crazy setup on Friday. And for a massive party like that the sound was pretty good too. On the whole I thought that TRIBE put on an awesome production.

- Crowd was good too. There was a good energy in that place and people seemed to be vibing and going off to the music. And whoa holy Toronto people. But as some have mentioned, some really sketchy peeps were up in that place as well lol. wtf is up with the crucifix body surfing thing lol.

- S+D killed it. I was really impressed with their music. Especially the latter portion of their set. I thought Sander was lame and left after maybe 45 mins of his set. I mean I knew there would be no way for him to follow up S+D but still. "At Night" with the "Take Me Away" accapella? fuck off lol. Im never going to see him again FO REAL.

- only negative of the night (for me) was that I was sick ALL WEEK leading up to Friday (and I felt the absolute worst on Thursday night). So much so that I was debating even going up on Friday. So I really had NO ENERGY to fully enjoy myself and I had to spend a good portion of the night on the couches upstairs. *cries*

ps. I noticed that there were some professional photograpehrs + videographers filming the night. Any idea when any of those pics + vids might be released?

It's funny you are the only one who thinks Sasha's set had no direction!! All the reviews including many dj's reviews from MTL are the same - Both Sasha & Diggers set's were really tight and had a super nice flow to them...I guess you have never really seen Sasha play at prime time in a big party.
