i probably will not go if lawler changes unless they add someone else on day 1. im probably going to catch zabiela and hawtin elsewhere. only reason i would still consider going would be for cox.

Agree. Though i was very dissapointed with cosmic gate at the Chakra party last wmc. Wasnt hard trance anymore. They converted to a very proggy like set. Not the same style as what they do in europe...hate when djs who are known for a style change to conform to what everyone else is playing around them - since wmc isnt really trance and hard trance.

But above and beyond would be amazing at Ultra. Ultra is really lacking on the trance so far.

I'd like to hear a fucking sound system that works this year at Ultra! The Main Stage and Carl Cox Tent sounded like shit last year Sasha & Digweed, Ferry, Christopher Lawernce, PVD, Sander Van Dorn all of it sounded like shit because of the system, it was so fustrating.

I believe that Ultra will never improve on the Trance front.
I actually spoke with Jono Grant of Above & Beyond last WMC and I asked him about UMF. He said he has never heard of it.

Its funny how many people bash on Ultra for being a trance-ish e-tard festival, yet sorry to say this but the e-tards arnt there cause of the trance ...morons. There are maybe 3 true trance acts a day at Ultra. And as mentioned it is that way because trance doesnt have its own stage as opposed to every other genre there. Trance has to share a stage with other big headliners on a main stage. However the genres the other headliners come from all have stages for their genre - i.e. House stage, Breaks, etc. The WMC polls are all bullshit and are rigged in a sense by mass voting by the ultra promoters. UMF has no chance in hell of beating festivals from europe. I mean ask any artist what festival is their favorite and UMF def doesnt show up haha. Even Carl Cox who has a tent after him says other festivals. Also the money put into the festival is way less than those around the world. UMF is more set up as an outdoor concert with many stages than a rave festival. And to those who say many of the trance artists wont pack a crowd... look at the other stages. Half of the early part of the day the tents arent packed. If you set up a trance tent, the acts not as known can play early yet still please those who enjoy that genre. Trance at Ultra is pretty much the same cause they keep looking at it as main stage artists and acts to pack the place up like Armin and Ferry and Oakie. Dont need to worry about that if it was a tent stage.

Yeah you're right. I saw that at last years festival. Thats why Bang 2006 was better in organizing stages according to genre.

So Daft Punk released Alive... maybe that will help them make it to Ultra? Dont listen to them much or know much about them but the reviews seem crazy.

daft punk have one of the BEST shows I've ever seen .....I saw them in November if front of 10,000 people ..... incredible experience i wouldn't be sorprised if the play at the ultra stage or even main stage ......

i really wish they bring ultra back to the amphitheater ..... you just can't compare bicentennial park to bayfront park ....Im only going day-2 ...... will above and beyond ever play at ultra???????

I doubt Ultra will add another big trance act like above and beyond or thrillseekers or rank 1, atb, etc. because it just doesnt seem to be their focus anymore. I think 2005 had the best of trance from them and that was it since.

Also Daft Punk would be great as the "live" thing, even though they arnt live. I dont think there should be a live big name that isnt EDM play before Tiesto friday night. Just get a good act and thats it.

Here is to hoping there will be more trance... 'drinks one shot' 'another shot' 'another shot' - 'few more and loses count' 'passed out'!

Are there any age limits to ultra ? Is it worth coming from LA to there ? How are the after parties?

From LA i dunno as i think the festivals there are way better and more rave oriented than ultra - ultra is more of a rock concert ish event just with electronica. The setup is weak, etc. Stick to EDC and what not. But i think its fun none the less. Its no LA festival by insomniac events but its still fun. I love the festivals as they differ from the club scene. The two are totally different and festivals are well- festivals. It isnt purely about the music. Its the experience as a whole. If your under 21 I would wait for phase 2 before deciding if you should make it over. If the acts blow you away on phase 2 go for it. Youll have fun. If not, have fun with the amazing LA events.
