im thinking of buying final scratch for a bedroom setup, how does it compare?
Its a lot cheaper than the others, thats why we're thinking of getting it.

it's also been discontinued for quite some time for quite many good reasons. very few people use it, i'm not sure if anyone even uses it in a professional setting anymore.

Yeah, I saw that it isn't really mentioned any more, but what are the reasons its been discontinued?
I remember hearing PvD used to use it among others, so I thought it was credible.

Torq 1.5!

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Jan-07-2009 18:56:

torq LE user here

I need some help guys, I couldn't find it with the links on the sticked thread. And I'm a total noob when it comes to DJing.

I'm using X Session Pro, with Torq LE (which I think is torq 'lite' edition or something).

My computer tends to slow down when a song is playing in Torq, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Also I'm getting a sort of chorus effect on some tracks (I'm assuming it's either too loud or too eq'ed).

Any help is apperciated.

What are the specs of your system? (RAM, etc.)

Go to torq-dj.com and click on the forums. Go to the tips and tricks subforum and find the thread on tweaking your cpu for audio apps. It made a total difference for me on my older Dell system and now it runs great.
Also, if your system specs are a little low, you can try increasing the buffer size in the preferences.

But in general, there is basic stuff you can do such as turn off your screen saver and wifi. The audio tweak guide I mentioned above has tons more you can do to maximize performance.

Thanks for the posts, I haven't seen the document posted

http://www.torq-dj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3791

there but I'm going to follow what they put up

http://www.nem0nic.com/index.php?op...id=33&Itemid=48

here

Yeah, I followed the nemonic one. That guy is beast when it comes to this stuff. I think I did al the tweaks except the one where you change the hardware profile and they made a big difference.

It's amazing how much stuff bloats a typical cpu.

Serato on Macbook Pros. Very stable, like it a lot.

I had FinalScratch when it first came out, and also when it was Traktor whatever. It sucked, the hardware was crap and the USB port on the scratch amp wore out after a year and a half. Also horrible line noise.

Got SSL about 3 years ago and never looked back.

+1
That circular ScratchAmp was horrible!

Update: My Dad bought me Serato for Christmas

Posted by sterilis on Feb-02-2009 15:54:

does anybodies computer get a blue screen then restart when you exit out of serato or the usb lead is removed? ive tried different versions and it still happens. happened to me in a club and got me really angry, somebody knocked into the lead and it fell out and the computer restarted, took me about 10 minutes to get the set up and running again.

im using windows vista, is this another bollocks associated with vista?

so the line goes directly from the SSL box to the mixer, and the cdjs (or whatever you use) go directly to the SSL box inputs? why the big push for rane mixers from their website?

Posted by amp3 on Feb-02-2009 21:21:

Some Rane mixers have a serato box built into them

i fail to find the info i want regarding torq, it seems pretty cheap but can u only buy the software and use whatever soundcard and midicontroller u want? im really considering it. ive stopped djeing a few years back as I was vinyl only and that was a deadend. now i want to get back to it but no way im bothering burning out CDs and buy all that gear again so I wanna software. i dont need 4 decks and efex, so torq seems good enough. any ideas?

Posted by miamitranceman on Feb-16-2009 00:32:

I posted this in the other thread, but in order to run Torq you need the Conective soundcard which comes with it, or you can get the Xponent which is all built in to the one unit.

If you buy Torq now the 1.5 upgrade is free.

Because Rane distributes SSL?

Why do you think McDonalds pushes their fries and not Burger Kings?

I been thinking of switching from Serato to Traktor. I could really use those effects. The effects on Serato suck big time. I don't even use them. If it wasn't cause I also do videos, I would jump on Traktor right away. Still debating though.

Armageddon is here!

Posted by elFreak on Feb-19-2009 14:23:

why are fx so important to you guys?

sure they can be useful used VERY sparingly, but most of the dj's who twiddle with fx non stop sound like shit imo. Best way to turn good music into wtf is this shit.

Posted by DjWoody on Feb-19-2009 22:43:

Becase if you use them correctly and actually get creative with them, you can make some interesting sounds. Look at Zabiela. He can master the EFX 1000 like no other Mofo!
