I partied twice at guv before going to the zone. I heard about it from a friend that went once and vowed she'd never go again. She went home from the guv only after making me promise I wouldn't go to the zone...my fingers were crossed, bitch! I've been going regular ever since. In fact, I don't go out Saturday nights anymore so I can be fresh for the zone, the bouncers say hi to me, the coatcheck girl remembers me, I have zone clothes, the punks at the back aren't actually punks, they're business entrepenuers and decent human beings, Roger tells me about his son, occassionally, Jay, the washroom attendant misses me when I don't show up...speaking of, where are the attendants these days? Oh, the piece de resistance, I have recurring dreams that I have an upside down "I heart CZ" tattoo on my hip, just below the underwear line. It is being considered.

All I remember is being told that "Hey this person almost got you kicked out" I don't even remember who told me? Apparently I was shaking the DJ Booth and Fab was about to kick my ass lol. The bouncer was going to kick me out but he apparently let me stay? Knowing my condition if I was that bouncer I would have done the right thing and kicked me out hahaha...

Man I wish I could remember anything, I don't even remember how I got home :S

I still can't remember anything... F***!

WOW!!!! this story is one I wouldn't be bragging about! But thanx for a little of knowledge about your world!

I miss those days.

Last time I was at Zone was early 2002. First time was late 90's.

Decoze will never be the same to me.

He WAS the zone, and the zone WAS him!

6. The CZ Virus is real, exists only in the Zone and is only curable by not going to the zone for 4 consecutive wks.

I didn't go nearly as much as some of you in the "scary" days of Zone. But on NYD I've definitely noticed a difference...it seems to be "the cool place to go" now. And it definitely takes away from the infamous Zone atmosphere of the past I find.

. . .

The comfort zone sign in the back is new and brightens the place up a bit too.

Yea, this factor still disappoints me. A good deal of the Zone's vibe for me was crafted because of its utter DARKNESS... i agree its simply WAY TOO BRIGHT in there now! They need to darken it up bigtime!!!

Agree... i had ALWAYS disliked his performaces/sets whenever id seen him at other clubs (mostly KH for all access events, or the guvvy side rooms)... but then i heard/saw him for the first time at the Zone and immediately changed my opinion: I LOVED DEKO-ZE 'ZONE' SETS... A LOT!!!

Its the only place i really look forward to hearing sets.

For sure. I remember the first time I went, and everyone just kept telling me, "wait for Deko-ze." He could work that room like no other. Seeing him going apeshit in the booth while everyone around the DJ booth was also going apeshit, bouncing in sync with him was what made The Zone great.

As for The Zone being Disneyland these days, I would have to agree. Even though I heard its craziest times were around 2000-2002 (when G first started gaining popularity, and people were just dropping like flies), when I started going in 2004 (wow, almost 4 years ago already?!) it was still a lot crazier than it is today. My perception of its crazyness probably had something to do with it, because I had just started going, but I remember that 9/10 times that I went to The Zone, it felt like the place was being held up by a fraying thread. The whole front of the DJ booth would just be losing it from 6-10am, almost every time I went. Nowadays, I still get that feeling every once in a while, but it's pretty rare (ie usually on long weekends).

haha i kind of agree with that...actually the very first time i was there (early 2003) he was spinnin when we got there...and comparing that to now...not quite the same

im with you on that on Graham. I rememeber it would be a madd house, raining sweat. the place going OFFF at 9 on a warm sunday morning u could feel the bass through the sidewalks as u were waiting in line, trying not to look tired, shielding your eyes with ta hat and sungalsses... i reemmber the line ups being tense, everyone shuffling aroudn outside trying to hide their anticipation, aruging with Alex at the door over trying to get a group to skip the line, then going down the steps. past coat check, u get blasted by the heat and the music..drawn in, and it engulfs you.....
