Haha. Touchy subject is all.

Speaking of touchy, how are you coping?

Ok, so that wasn't actually an invitation for detail, I was just trying really hard to make a pun.

Hahaha. Quite well, actually.

The one thing that has been keeping me going is that knowing her appetite for it, she's going to be all over me for a few days once lent is over. I'm expecting it to be of the highest caliber.

That, or she could be like, "Huh, well, that was easy. I guess it isn't a required part of our relationship. I guess we can go a bit longer."

I agree, what a ridiculous ritual. So apparently Jesus died for your sins as the ultimate sacrifice for humanity, yet you still have to sacrifice something once every year for 40 days. I mean doesn't it make more sense to go out and be involved in community service, like volunteering at a hospital or giving money to the poor? Nope, let's just abstain from something for 40 days and show God how uber religious we are!

Random guy: I gave up sex/masturbation for 40 days so I can be closer to j00 God!

God: wtf? Idiot!

SOLUTION:

Let's both go by jacob, except you be straycob and I'll be gaycob

PROBLEM SOLVED

In truth Lent is not about giving up anything, it is about preparing to celebrate the festival of Easter. Christians prepare themselves for this by spending the Lenten season reflecting on their lives and taking action to correct those things about them that they feel are inconsistant with the ministry of Jesus. Unfortunately, most people associate this season with giving up something of tokin value as though it were some great sacrafice. Myself, I'm not giving up anything, rather, I am preparing myself for Easter by contemplating my life in comparison with the virtues espoused by Jesus in the Beatitues and will be attempting to move myself closer to those virtues.

You're exactly right...but giving something up makes me more focused on what i'm trying to achieve in those 40 days

...That was beautiful man. Well if that is the true reason behind the practice, then I guess I won't mock it.
