You only notice that if you are driving it on a track when you are driving at full potential.( I hope you wouldnt drive like that on the street) Daily driving you dont even notice it. As long as you get your offsets right its not a drastic change at all, and no you dont get a ton of understeer either. Most of the folks that have staggered sets also have even sets for autocrossing and such.

i thought staggering creates more oversteer potential? that was my impression. and my driving style i LOVE to pull corners at relatively high speeds. im pretty sure i would notice it. i am a handling junkie. i feel shit that most people dont. although i had to take it easy cause my car has active steering..which is wierd as hell.

Remember its FWD. Oversteer would be a plus. On RWD you will get oversteer. Im aware of how you drive A lot of people dont like the look of staggered wheels and thats fine, purely subjective. Most that talk about handling havent driven it set up like that. The only noticeable downside is the added weight of larger wheels but if you just cruise around at realistic speeds there isnt anything to complain about.
Ive even driven my friends 400hp turbo VR6 MK3 and it was handling like a champ...stiffer swaybars were the cure.

haha yeah i agree oversteer is a good thing in fwd. and dude my driving style was calm compared to when im alone. i tone it down a lot when i have people in the car.

and staggered wheels generally looks the same as not. cause usually only a 1" difference. those fucktards that claim there is a difference are fucking wackjobs. its so subtle and unnoticeable really.

and dude..swaybars are so fucking necessary on ALL cars. less body roll ftw!

To each his own on the look of stretched sidewalls and tucked rims... I just can't stand the cases when you see a shload of camber because they want to tuck something super wide and/or don't correct any geometry because they're all about the look. Nothing wrong with a camber inducing geometry on a stock car with light sways and taller tires, but when some of these guys (some, not all) drop their cars it just throws everything out the window.

My 914 doesn't have sways, and it's the most fun car I've driven. It's gutless and the brakes are rubbish, but it just reads your mind. Sure it feels like it's going to roll over like a dog, but with the center of gravity being so low, it just sticks.. albiet unnervingly.

LOL give me a 944 turbo s any day of the week over that car. ugh i hate the 914. i should NEVER have even dawned ferdinands name imho.

but i 100% agree with you on the suspension thing. dont do things for looks. its ends up breaking and having a ton of problems later. and quite possibly causing more damage to the car than you would have ever expected.

Ha, I don't disagree, nor do I agree. It's a fuzzy line for me. It was VW in europe anyway! I think the 914 was only a 'Porsche' in the US, not sure about other export countries. I do, however, believe it's on the porsche side of the line given the era. The way I see it, it was lighter than a 912 and had the same engine... that, and I don't care what it looks like while I'm driving it. In that argument then it's more of a Porsche to me than a 912. (I don't really mean, that, BTW )

That widetrack mini made me think of this:

Most extreme camber nowadays are due to airbags, so its not like a push of a button wont get it into a realistic driving stance. VW owners have been doing nutty cosmetics since aircooled and still do. Yes it will cause problems on suspension bits once go past the geometry of the suspension that was engineered. Most owners that do go that low understand that and live by the whole " pay to play" . Im pretty open to most modded cars and styles as long as the owners are happy....its not my car, I have my own problems.

I admire your patience and understanding. It makes up for my lack of it.
