UPDATE
Dave Dresden is having shoulder surgery. Hence no more tour dates. Gabriel and Dresden will still happen, just taking a break until Dave recovers.

Fuck.

Posted by RJT on Apr-03-2008 20:01:

So basically it sounds like Josh & Dave decided to let on that they were "done" @ WMC this year just to get people talking about their "breakup" only to say "April Fools" two days too late?

Assholes.

Maybe when he's recovered they can fix that disappointing Faithless remix.....

i met them the first time they played at space and dave dresden looked drunk as f*ck!!.josh gabriel was the kool one ..not too drunk lol

then last year after armin at pawnshop they were setting up and i siad whats up to them and DD looked f*cked up again.. i told them i hadnt seen them since 04 and Dresden said "were much better". and i thought to myself...i dont think so

drugs and alcohol usually strain musical relationships.
I was actually there for their EM in 03, i only liked the first 2 tracks :/

*edit* i meant 05

Alright, who started the breakup rumor anyway? Ffs.

I'll post the reply I put in the other thread...and add to it...

From my knowledge of going on, this is something that happened AWHILE ago...nothing recent, it just started coming out recent that it was going on...

And is your source worth trusting? (maybe it's one of the, I dunno)

Not saying you're not fibbing...but our (my and Rich's, which are all different people) sources are close to G&D....like real close....producer/DJ, friend, etc...and these people don't even know each other from what I know. One source I personally found out from seperately from Rich has known for weeks...but I wouldn't expect him to tell me. The other source is someone I'm close to and have been for years and that person has known since the beginning of March but this person swore not to tell anyone, so this person kept their word word because honestly, I was surprise that person didn't tell me (considering this person tells me a lot of things, hehe) sooner. Now if they went around telling people what they are telling and it was a lie, that would be totally messed up. But I don't think they are...no need to. Would be stupid for them to considering G&D are personal friends of theirs.

If it turns out to be false, then maybe those who are talking bullshit will revealed...but considering I'm sure G&D know about all this talk by now and aren't doing much to defuse it....think that's saying something.

I'm totally open for it all being wrong...I hope it is. G&D are some of my alltime favs. I was there at their first SF gig when they opened for Tiesto at Mezzanine when they were first starting to explode (in 2003?) and it was about the party. A five hour set a month at Ten15 for Spundae in their first residency. And while I haven't been to many of their shows in the last year+, it's been because of scheduling conflicts and not because I didn't want to be there...cause I do! Seems like I always find a way to enjoy their set...they are A LOT different now than then and I do prefer the style they had then, but I will always respect what they have done. Trance was dying and them in a couple other people did what they could to give the music a fresh breathe (some people say the opposite, but I don't!)...again, it's way different now but I still do like most of the music they play...and would love to see them together in the future....though I don't think that's gonna happen.

this has been in the works for quite a bit of time now. here's what's going down.

the split has already taken place and josh & dave no longer have a professional working relationship. it is my understanding that while a reunion is possible in the later future, it's highly unlikely due to the caustic nature of their relationship at this time. dave's shoulder surgery has nothing to do with the split whatsoever and is merely incidental. they each have their plans for working as solo artists.

if there's any confusion whatsoever, allow me to reiterate: there is absolutely no question from either camp as to the current status of Gabriel & Dresden. they are done.

Posted by RJT on Apr-03-2008 22:04:

Thanks for clearing that up, Dave.

DAVE DRESDEN IS JOHN SMOLTZ!

Posted by The_G0dfather on Apr-03-2008 23:01:

no time to read the entire thread plus the links is invalid.

Are they actually separated?

I'ld be kinda disappointed to be honest, unless they go separately a&nd keep producing some nice tracks and most of all providing some great sets.

Thanks to them i know of Jaliet - Avalon (jacques lu cont remix), here is the house, ...

many great tracks

Gotta admit though, the last two yours they kinda lacked the groove and were going downwards, a shame

TLDR

anyways, i have no sources
i'm completely guessing

and i'm probably being trolled

It looks like it's the norm for artists to create alternate accounts on here so that they can talk about themselves.

It sounds like Josh got tired of dealing with Dave's shit.

I'd be tired of some fat wasted guy taking credit for all of my work too.

Posted by thechronic on Apr-04-2008 00:08:

I mean after Josh got into Ableton all Dave did was twiddle with the efx or maybe cue up an accapella a la Tommy Lee! why split yr money with someone not doing their fair share?

Posted by RJT on Apr-04-2008 00:12:

All I've ever seen Dave do is push the fader up on two different channels on a DJM 500/800.

Well, that, and the whole internet breakdown thing.

They played Tejada - The End Of It All @ Coachella and after the set Dave said that was a bootleg he made in ableton.

I neglected to add that it sounded pretty much exactly like the original.

It had the vocals to "Nothing" over it, right?

That's all he did. I made the same edit in 5 minutes because I thought it sounded OK.

Then I got bored.

I don't remember them. In either case it was pointless.

It's a well known fact that they they didnt get to be the dj's they are nowadays coz of their mixing but imo they always had an extremely good track selection.

Anyone disagrees ?
