Does a guy talking with a lisp sound any less intelligent than a dude with a thick southern drawl, or an inner city dude with the whole 'ebonics' dialect thing, or a northerner with all thier 'eh's? The us and indeed the world is full of different dialects; variations on a common theme. Some of them bother me too... but I think it's a little unfair to think it has anything to do with 'speaking like an adult.' (hell, I can't STAND british accents... but I'm not going to tell the next brit I talk to to "speak like an adult" to me. Different strokes for different folks.) |

And how would you define a "British Accent"?

Seriously...and don't even give me the excuse that they act that way because they're more feminine. Fucking women don't act like that.

but gay bashing isnt a systemic abuse at the behest of the state. |

| again, the oppression or violence committed by private individuals isnt the same thing as legalised segeregation. its really not the state's fault if there are multitudes of redneck bastards willing to engage in gay bashing. |
Ok, well I'm going to get eaten alive since I'm sure there are many discernable British dialects that I may be lumping into my general "British Accent" statment...
Let me rephrase... I cant stand 'received pronunciation.'
Everyone hates that it's actually shit pronunciation. As a RP person to say drawing and they say "drawring".

Just because youre gay doesn't mean you can't behave like a man. It's just an act. A fake, unattractive act. Ive known many mincing poofs who were awesome blokes and not the least bit camp. |

I have to say I agree with 99% of what you say Jake but at the same time if you're getting a lot of eye contact and "that look" then surely you can tell?
I can see how it would be annoying though. I wish women would wear badges when in clubs to say if they are attached or not lol.

| Originally posted by Jake Benson pkcR., remember for every flaming queen out there, you'll find an equally unappealing overly masculine, crotch grabbing, womenizing, str8 talking (frequently using words like "bro," "brah," "tsup," "'at's coo'"), homophobic straight guy. |

you'd do any community proud mr benson, gay or otherwise
(Or should I have left that at "you'd do any community"?) Ha.
