When Digweed played here in a small (300 capacity) club about 2 months ago he rocked the house.
I hate strobe lights with a passion so when this lighting dickhead was turning it on n off as he pleased during his set, i wrote a Digweed a message on my phone n showed it to him saying "yo could you get that guy to lay off the strobe. Its shit, youre awesome, hope you're having fun - we are!". He read it, n wrote back "i know, he's a fucking twat".
End of strobe light.
Digweed's a chiller - not a rockstar you needa take photos with. Do you go see a DJ to hear music or get a snap shot with him? Cool, now get over it n enjoy.

That Tony Wilson quote was epic win.
And if the only way I had to make the bulk of my income was spending 5 to 7 hours a night in a club surrounded by sketchballs of every color in the rainbow (all of whom want to be your best friend) only to be followed by nonstop airport travel, I would probably not be too thrilled about it most nights either.
Doing what any of the jocks who are constantly traveling do would drive me to the brink of insanity within a weeks - so I can only imagine how thin it has to be wearing on two fellows pushing 40.

I imagine after all said and done - it is nothing more than a job for most of these jocs. I think the allure of "OMG I have bunch of ppl dancing to "my" music" (by "my" music I mean the kind I spin...) Sure, I bet they are not doing too shabby for themselves, however, I don't think they see it same way you do - to them it's another paycheck and if the night is enjoyable, great!
I also thought that if I was making shitload of money, doing something I enjoy I'd be always happy. Guess what - I am still doing the same job I used to enjoy and even though I should be all smiles, as I pull in a fat paycheck, I still feel like shit. Sometimes doing what you enjoy and getting paid big bucks is not as as hype as it seems.
I guess the novelty wears off and then what used to be fun - now is a job. Besides, some of the fanbois I see mobbin the DJ are sweaty, smelly, drugged-out idiots that I wouldn't wanna talk to under normal circumstances... let alone after trans-atlantic flight in yet another time zone and after 8 or so hours of loud music that must be destroying my hearing, let alone pounding headache.
So, I sorta understand.
In the end, I think even the lowest, pissant local DJ who's ever played out at a club or relatively big party (hey - just like me!) knows what it's like to deal with even one annoying person near the booth.
20 years of that might be enough to cause a severe mental breakdown and complete loss of any sliver of faith in humanity someone may have ever had.
It sounds exactly like a topic from a crap reality-tv show: "It's terrible, I'm beautiful" where top models/whore attentions whined about how hoooorible it was to be 'beautiful'.
I can understand why they are pissed off anyway. They just need to select more the venues they are coming (just like Trentemoller).
I saw Digweed smile not once, but twice at Kool Haus in Toronto.
I was in incredible shock. I mean. Digweed. He never smiles!
He must have gotten the most amazing head on the stage or something.
As for fanboy thing, courtesy goes both ways.
Don`t annoy the DJ when he`s busy, or looks occupied.
If you`re going to refuse to talk to a fan or don`t want to sign an autograph, at least be polite when saying no.

i heard them play for 4 hours, on a yaught cruise @ wmc, they were nice and friendly. Sasha even asked us if we where headed to ultra after. Nice people if u ask me.
I agree that 20 years of that might spoil the passion and makes things boring but you have to know that Digweed and Sasha are probably the more geeky type of DJs. While the skilled DJ's seem more concentrated on the mixing than crowd interraction, the more shittier ones have a great link with the people. That's what I've noticed.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents. I like what they do but I don't think I would go see Sasha live again because I'm not going out to analyze mixing or whatsover, as long it's "good/average" and the atmosphere's good.

he played that song because we connect every time our eyes lock and he jumps up and down while pointing in my general direction. The music sounds so much better when it happens.
sometimes i think dj fanboys must be the same vapid cunts who spend big money to see men in speedos wrestle while they chant their names like fools.
