The back room simply OWNED the night!

But what is up with the stupid gigantic VIP area right in front of the DJ booth?

If you like to dance in front of the DJ and hope for some crowd interaction, there's about 5 feet of space. Honestly, my dog triple-blindfolded (if I had one) could have come up with a better interior design...what were they thinking?

imo, this accelerated a mass migration to the back room, where the music happened to be outstanding and most people stayed back there the rest of the night. I really enjoyed Anthony Pappa's set, many intoxicating tracks, and was fun taking over the VIP area once the bouncers (who had been guarding this 99.9% empty void right in front of the DJ) finally left!

Great to hang out with Bucke, Trin, Bernice, Malia, Chris, Willie and all the other TA's I don't remember after that third drink! Nice to see a lot of TA's wearing RED and supporting EDM at Circus also!

Given that this was a freaky weather freezing cold Memorial holiday weekend, I think the TA's represented pretty well. Was great that the hip hop room stopped at 2 and those excruciatingly painful sounds bleeding into the other rooms stopped for good!

Oh yeah, and those videos at the club gotta go. Cheapens the place from a quality dance music venue to a soft core porn factory...

A few more pics HERE , don't expect much as the lighting was bad and I wasn't using flash most of the night.

yeah that whole vip setup is retarded. and they shoulda kept the dj booth where it was originally.

i id'd a couple of tracks anthony played, he dropped "smith and selway-departure (cirez d remix)" and "guy j-under pressure (original mix)". digweed has been hammering the shit out of that guy j track, both remixes of it are absolutely insane!

Hiya everyone. I too am still smiling about last night. Great sets and great vibe...but did we make it to the 500 benchmark ?

Hey, in2muzikk, you didn't mention that you also "hung out" with Chris or Willie. I know you had a few , but hopefully not that many? Willie stated he's shocked and devastated but will disengage himself from posting any sesquipedalian vituperrious nomenclature on the matter.

Attempts at humor aside, I thought DJ Kosho's sets were great. When I got closed to his booth on the side, he reached over to shake my hand and made a comment about the message on my shirt. Don't know what he said because the music was loud, but it must have been good cause he was smiling the whole time. I noticed he had an empty glass on the shelf behind him, so I pointed at it, and with out missing a beat, he handed it to me. I filled it up with dollar bills, reach over to put it back on the shelf, and said:

"They're not paying you enough for this kick-ass music."

(I didn't realize he's the co-producer of Club Red until today). Anyway, we both laughed about the tip-jar thing so it's great to meet another DJ with a sense of humor.

Trinity, thanks again, always great to see you and your niece out.

Malia, when the pics are ready, please email the ones I had taken upstairs and the ones with us red Redders wearing red at Red....that was an awesome shot - I looked at the viewfinder - and it was filled from frame to frame with red!...the Red See!!

You should have my email address in your recent mail archives. If not, please send them through Terry who moderates one of my websties: http:/www.self-evolution.org Your next glass of juice is on me.

Thanks everyone and have a grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat Memorial Day.

Fixed...but I never even thought to say that I hung out with the friends I came and left with, they were there with me the whole time! I'm in disbelief that my good friends would've thought that I neglected them, in fact, I'm seeing red over it!

Posted by selfEvolution on May-26-2008 06:52:

Well, red-eyed Willie is seeing red too - but for different reasons.

Saturday night was so much fun. It was great to see everyone and very nice to meet you, Bucke.

Here are my PICS

Hopefully RED will be back at Circus and there will be many more nights like this one

Posted by selfEvolution on May-26-2008 12:18:

Hey aznspyce, those are great pictures. You captured the moments when the lights were flashing on, so we can actually see the peeps and not their shadows. All are very good and real keepers and Malia's came out great...isn't she adorable?

No matter how hard they try
Red at Red will never die
Red is alive and loved is Red
Red, like PLUR, is never dead.

Living to love
loving to learn
learning to live,
Chris

I got a message yesterday saying.... 700ish!!!

Considering the last minute announcement, the holiday weekend, and people leaving town... I think that was great!

Posted by djGT on May-26-2008 19:39:

Still missing my "Cole hug" - I always felt like royalty at Circus when he welcomed us all in! I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

Posted by epic007 on May-27-2008 01:21:

Oh wow... what a great night! I got a glimpse of my self in the video around :59 seconds! I was sooo shit face. I never dance so hard before. My shuffle still needs alot of work, but it's coming along!

I had to leave early, but managed to get an hour of sleep and made it to work around a lil b4 5am. I was still a lil tipsy, but hydrated like a mad man.

Overall, it was really good seeing all the familiar faces. Trin... thanks again for the guestlist and to the rest of the Red family....see you next time!

Uh-oh - I may never know who I gave the tip jar full of cash to. When we were talking, there was just one Asian dude in the DJ booth in the smaller room (?) and the flyer stated Hendo and Brian were in the "main room". Not being argumentative, just confused as usual....

From Kosho's website:

"This Saturday May 24th RED returns to CIRCUS Disco! Featuring ANTHONY PAPPA, KOSHO, HENDO and BRIAN McGUIRE in the main room."

Posted by TSG on May-27-2008 04:47:

Kosho didn't play.

The back room had GT & Project C tagteam

Posted by selfEvolution on May-27-2008 04:53:

LOL...okay...doesn't matter - what matters was the music was great and whoever got the tip deserved it - he must have been a terrorist - cause his music was da bomb !! I tend to enjoy most the sounds at Club Red, and I sure will miss DJ Bob Motamedi until he getz back from his move to Vegas.

Peace,
Chris
