Was a little worried going in about how creative Holland would be on the attack without Robben but they proved to very inventive, especially on the counter. Also, the Dutch defense held up much better than expected, aided by some key saves from van der Sarr. They're so deep up front and in the midfield but I'm still concerned about the depth in the back, they started to get a little sloppy late.

Italy looked very slow, maybe their age is getting to them? Injuries are also really hurting them defensively, not the same back line that dominated the World Cup.

Hup Holland Hup!

I am just to this part in the game where Van Persie is introduced back in the game. I am very excited to see this (since I didn't expect him to be playing at all). He is my fave for sure

Ever since I decided to root for the Dutch last week (only because of the Ronaldo circus and Van Der Saar)

I went from it's that world glass player Rob Van Persie to "MY GOD! DON'T GET HURT! "

As Nick said at the bar yesterday "This is why Van der Sarr is a five star goalie" and he's right he was on fire in the goal yesterday amazing performance. Italy couldnt finish and the dutch took ahold of that with controling the tempo in the start of the game. Def looks like the dutch are going far in this tournament if the continue to play like this.

Damn straight. He's just on an amazing hot streak. Champions League and now Euro, let's hope the Euro ends with the same result.

Yay Portugal v. Czech

Posted by mfelner29 on Jun-11-2008 17:57:

Another good game to watch as the Czech didnt go quietly into the night but I guess Ronaldo got some good cheeks the night before because he played one hell of a game today unlike his first game. Portugal move on to the next stage....

Was a good match but the dutchies and pasta monsters was the best one for me

indeed. The swiss-turkey game was only interesting with the final goal, imo. But then again, they werent my teams so I had little loyalty to either.

Both teams were taking chances. It was a pretty even game until Turkey broke through with the lead.

The dutch-italy game was great for different reasons (I myself an Oranje supporter), but it was one sided
