Crazy Shit
I own a PS3; have yet to play Metal Gear Solid 4.
Man, wait till you see the whole opening sequence. I wish I had surround sound. I only have 2.1 right now.
Ok, well just got back from vacation yesterday, and finished the game up today. I honestly have mixed feelings. The game....well...is just not worth the money, IMO. Out of 18 hours of gameplay, I can honestly say that about 12 at the least were watching cutscenes and storytelling. As a story, the game is absolutely brilliant. As a final product, it is polished, and is clearly the work of a perfectionist. However, as a 'game' it is lacking in...well...gameplay. I just don't see the point of spending all that money to just sit and watch, more than play. It introduces nothing new that the previous games didn't, and in some ways even reduces on previous iterations. The whole point is sneaking and stealth. Although in that context, the game delivers, it delivers absolutely NOTHING extra that previous generation games did not. Overall, this game is a nice story wrapup to one of my most beloved gaming franchises in the last decade. Other than that, I was looking for this to be a game that I can immerse myself in over a series of months. Hell, I would have been happy with even a series of weeks. It falls brutally short, giving the fan a measly series of hours of gameplay.
game kind of sucked, not as bad as mgs 2 but almost
the storyline sucks worse than any of the other storylines and is too long and convoluted
the ai is borderline retarded
the boss battles are all pretty easy on normal, in fact the whole game is really easy
the end battle with liquid is really stupid
that drebin guy is an asshat and i feel like i'm in a naked gun movie whenever i get/read drebin points
the shitting and farting and pissing in the game is stupid
contrary to people belief i still think raiden sucks. breakdancing swordplay in highheels okay!

Awesome game.
And awesome final that i didn't expect.
I've only finished Act 1. I need to devote some serious time to this game this weekend.
That was an effed up ending to Act 1. Still not sure what exactly happened.
Snake's probably in a wheelchair, if they manage to make another mgs.
Apparently, Hideo is gonna be making another Metal Gear game, but it's not focusing on Snake anymore. It'll most likely be one of the other characters. Imagine, Metal gear Raiden, or Metal Gear Akiba (Replace the 'psyche' meter with a 'pant shitting meter' lol. That'd be the best thing to hit consoles)
Honestly, he should just retire while he's ahead. As much as I enjoyed this game for the sake of it wrapping up so many loose ends, I just don't want to buy another $50 interactive movie. If, however, the game were to feature the new game engine, with its current refinements, and swap all the f***ing movies for actual gameplay then I may be inclined to show some interest.
Secret final video according to this rumour.

I don't trust very much this notice, anyway i'm curious and i probably i will make it.

The storyline was absolutely ridiculous and the gameplay was too easy. I hear onlines pretty cool though...
By the way don't get me wrong, I still loved playing it
Just got into Act 3 in Europe. The opening scenes are amazingly well animated!
Spoiler
Loved the Otacon Naomi stuff too.
Just got around to playing this at a friend's house... Absolutely amazing. Love the new aiming system, graphics are fantastic, and the story was just epic! A proper finish for Snake, though I'm still pissy that there won't be more.
I was astounded at the amount of cutscenes versus gameplay, but still believe the game wouldn't be as epic as without. As I said to Rob a few pages back (in some thread... maybe the c0r?), I consider Hideo's work a piece of entertainment, not just a game, and not just a movie. It's both, and it's amazing. I still can't believe that I randomly discovered Metal Gear Solid from a demo disc when I was in middle school, and that it has grown into this!

Just watched the cutscenes of Acts 1 and 2 to find out what happened in the beginning of the story since I don't have a PS3. It took 3 1/2 hours and I haven't even played any gameplay. My God, the amount of work required to complete this game must've been unbelievable
