It is diveball. LOL

I think that is what he was trying to say. Of course not just Italy does it, but I consider them to be one of the masters at theatrics, so he isn't too far off.

And again who gives fuck if americans do not like football because it is not to their liking.

That's crazy dude, I played the sport here in the UK between the ages of 4 - 14 (25 now) and I was never taught that. You would only go down if the player brought you down, simple. It was up to the referee to then dish out whatever punishment was necessary, and for you to get on with the remainder of the match.

Perhaps different countries' approach this aspect of the game with a different mentality and method and the last thing you'd see in this country around the time I was playing was kids my age dropping to the ground to gain an unfair advantage over the opposition.

I have been to amateur matches recently and the whole mentality surrounding this part of the game has changed to mirror that of the professional game and what you've stated above

There has definitely been a change since I was young before the it seemed the whole point was to take a guy's best shot and stay standing kind of to piss him off and in a way ask 'Is that all you've got?' but things have changed.

I've had Spain to win since the start. So glad they knocked the Italians out, totally useless team imo. They need a big rework and some fresh faces, those guys are old and done with...they didn't even deserve to win the world cup. Flopping twats and today was no exception.

One word: CASILLAS!! THREE awesome saves, what a fucking legend. Really upset with Argones for not leaving Torres in the duration of the match, he had a shit ton of close goals and imo Guizan kind of blew one or two chances.

Regardless, Russia v Spain will a great game to watch. Spain's defense really stepped it up today and I'm glad for it, they were on point. Russia's attack was deadly against the Dutch though...exciting!

ps
Viva La Furia. Bitches.

Portugal are the worst divers. I remember watching Man United against Benfica two years ago in the CL group stage. Or Porto against Celtic in the UEFA Cup final. Or Portugal vs Holland in the 2006 WC. Pathetic.

Italy are bad, but not the worst.

Posted by noikeee on Jun-23-2008 00:39:

Waa waa waa, every tournament people here come up with the same old shit, cry me a river.

Yeah, diving has spread like AIDS over the last 10 years. Absolutely everyone and their mother is at it now, but now that it's prevalent in the game, it's never going to be eradicated for the most part.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was going for.

I was really struggling to figure out why they took Torres out as well - in my opinion he was playing the best on the Spanish side (with the exception of Casillas) in the second half.

amazingly boring game.... casillas was the man of hte match.

i've read some stat that Torres is replaced in a ridiculous percentage of the games he plays - my guess is he just doesn't have a lot of stamina, so Aragons wanted a fresh player

the most hilarious thing i've seen all day. the music adds so much to this.

Torres looks like a girl. And apart from his offense he plays like a bitch - there is absolutely no use for him on the pitch if the other team is not allowing any passing lanes and you know you're headed for penalties.

Posted by chesco on Jun-23-2008 17:22:

Majorly disappointed with italy last night. Didn't deserve the win, far too one dimensional with the ball as well.

Hoping for a russia win in this tournament now. By far the most entertaining team left in it.

Too bad he's one of the best/fastest strikers in the world. lol

Torres seemed to be getting a bit impatient and was leaving his position looking for the ball. I'm sure Aragones doesn't put up with that.

+ 1

he needs watch more football matches i think...

I've seen Torres squeeze in some goals that I thought would have been impossible until I saw the ball in the back of the net.

He's a great player no doubt and scores some fabulous goals, but by his standards, he had a poor game last night. Whenever he got a hold of the ball, he'd take one too many touches and lose the ball, and Guiza looked much more threatening when he came on, got into some good positions.

As for Weds. - Germany/Turkey might be uneventful, so I'll follow the blogs.
