Women's gymnastics has its version of Dara Torres, and she actually medaled in one of the event finals. She was once a teammate of Nastia Liukin's father, and she's probably twice as old as most of the other competitors (maybe 3 times as old as some of the Chinese ).

Rafa gets a Gold to add to the #1 ranking he'll attain tomorrow.
Russians sweep women's singles. On the medals stand, Safina clearly looked disappointed, understandable after coming so close to winning.
Williams sisters win doubles.
It seemed that almost all of the big names got a medal of some sort, which I think is cool.

Incredible to have two ties for Gold in gymnastics on the same day.

Great to hear!
Too bad Waldner is retired. He was the best to watch.
I wonder if China will sweep the medals in both mens and womens singles. I hope it doesn't happen, but with the country having the top 4 men and the top 5 women in the world, there's a good chance of it happening.

lolololol @ both women and men 4X100 US team

Posted by sr126 on Aug-23-2008 07:33:

aaahhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa! argentina scores the gold on futbol!!! i still don't know what's sweeter... aplastando a brasil 3-0 or the gold... i still have to think about it.

bad luck w/losing manu today... but seriously, who can really handle the Dream Team anyways? USA better destroy spain, or i'm gonna be upset. it should have been USA and Argentina in the final, w/spain getting the bronze... oh well...

first off all I give a standing Ovation to USA basketball 08. Job well done.

PS. Manu got hurt. Sucks for Spurs unless he heals quickly

gold medal game was awesome.
loved the competiveness nature of the whole thing.

one thing i am anticipating now is rudy fernandez. i have seen and heard about this guy, and what he can do, but never really saw him in action when the chips are down, and everything is on the line. he is going to be a very good guard with portland. with brandon roy, aldridge, oden, and him running the courts, portland is going to be one scary team.
