Pics now up!

This was the "line before the line" - it actually also went to the left, all the way back to the Sports Arena box office!

This was the demilitarized zone...I had already moved ahead when the crowd, including my two friends, got cut off when the event staff pulled yellow caution tape across from end to end. So, I went back, crawled under the tape and waited with my friends for what seemed like an eternity, and then they let a handful of people through so we were off!

...only to find a huge mosh pit of people, couldn't even see what was happening up ahead or figure out if there was actually any line.

Another half hour of this and suddenly people come running back against me, as they had just opened another gate, so I joined them and after being searched ran into the coliseum, down the steps, onto the field and up front where Menno was still playing. The rest of the night was history!

No yeah, definitely. But it was just brought more to my attention this year because Ive noticed first hand all these kids at my school who know absolutely nothing about the music and are normally the ones saying turn it off take it off when such type of songs are being played at parties and out of nowhere theyre at raves dressed like idiots and saying they LOVE BENASSI or LOVE DAVID GUETTA (whoto themare the only DJs who exist) when in reality you ask them what songs they know//like and the only thing they are able to blurb out is satisfaction and love dont let me go, just as when you look in their ipodstwo songs..ridiculous to me, absolutely ridiculous and it upset me, but what can you do?

I don't remember this track. Are you thinking of "Go" (which mix was that)?

I loved Moby's set. Only wish he would've dropped a few more classic Moby tracks ("Drop a Beat", "Next Is the E", "Feeling So Real").

He definitely played the instrumental part of Porcelain, no vocals in that one, I remember because I went crazyit was an amazing part of the night! And he played a bunch of more songs I knew and loved but couldntand still cantpin point at the moment hahaha do you remember what he played?

I called it my Journey to the Center of the Rave.

Back to transcribing that CL interview.

People don't understand why I go to clubs alone most of the time... I don't know about massives though...

Yeah they had the funktion one there with a huge horn in front of it. They had to turn it down for most of the time for whatever reason. Moby turned it up a shitload when i was listening to him and PVDs set was almost like a whisper when i was sitting close to the stage on the bleachers.

ugh, this is all so much of the same that it makes me not want to go to monster massive and i wouldn't, i avoid raves at all cost but just found out lawler will be there, so, therefor i will be too!!! VIP for sure for me, can't deal with the teen puddles and the off chance of running into my students

Rave on! I'll stick to eating vagina
Maybe I'll head down to Lalaland if he's playing MNS after that

Posted by DaveT on Jun-30-2008 07:53:

I bet you they had a sound restriction over how louad it coul;d be. I imagine if the volume gets past a certain point the music reflects off the bleachers and there's a good chance people in housing around the area could hear it well.

Remember when the ROlling Stones played at night her in SF at AT&T Park...the sound was bouncing off of everything so much you could hear it louder a few miles away than you could from the surrounding blocks of the statium. Everyone in the pEtreo hill area was pissed...and just pissed off more when some other event happened late into the evening (and no where near 4am)

So does anyone have tracklists of the sets?

Yeah the setup looked CRAZY!

But when i managed to get access on the main stage Benassi was playing and it wasn't pumping so loud. I asked a few of the board ops and a few people doing the sound at the event and they said they didn't have it up no where near 100% of the level. All 12323 amps were turned down. One person told me it was due to the "noise law" one person told me it was because management said not to turn it up.

there you go, BT - Flaming June - EDC 2008

Posted by Direct on Jun-30-2008 13:52:

I had fun. We got in line at 6:30 cut infornt of over a 1000 people to get inside by 7:30. Text everyone I knew who was going got a few replies and then my service went down.

I didnt check out any of the djs outside but I would walk by and it sounded good. All the djs in the main area were great except moby. He fucking sucked and I slept for half an hour in the bleachers during his set.

Over all EDC this year wasnt better or worse then last for me.

Posted by DizkokidD on Jun-30-2008 14:30:

I remember there was a time when PVD was all about the 21 and over crowed and never played at events such as all ages.... It erks me when I see kids under the age of 12 flooring it and thinking "This is the best song ever" when in reality they are just listening to birds chirp..

WTF!! i say WTF!! parents need to get a handle on the kids and spank them and hard !

Well, I brought a friend (Had to use my free ticket), and was gonna meet up with another(and his entourage). Never saw said friend, and the crowd tore me away from the friend, so I was like "Fuck it."

Posted by djcami on Jun-30-2008 16:56:

why do the phones never work right at raves? even when they're outdoors you'd expect to get better reception. interference from the equipment maybe?

Posted by ReclusNdangrmnt on Jun-30-2008 17:03:

I'd say the magnetism from the system in the mainstage was causing issues...
I had to run like hell to get out of there when I got texted for interviews

However, right next to the stage had decent reception.

Posted by TSG on Jun-30-2008 17:04:

When I got home, I had like 4-5 txt msgs appear that were sent way early in the night!

I keep wondering who the parents are and do they even know what their kids are out doing??? Hellz, if I had a daughter that young and saw her dressed with vagina eating shorts, I'd be dragging her by the hair and taking her home!

"Where's Your Head At" - Basement Jaxx
"Born Slippy" - Underworld
"Go" - Moby
"Thousand" = Moby
"Everyday It's 1989" - Moby (I think. I recognized at least on song from his new album, I think it was this one)

Naw.. i think its more overload for the phone providers. Imagine all those kids texting "where you at" at the same time. I had 4 bars inside the mainstage area but it still took forever to send texts.

Posted by BLOWZO on Jun-30-2008 17:17:

We got there at 9, and walked straight in... no line at all.

CL put me to sleep
Bennny blew chuncks! What happened to his hard ass beats? Oh i know
MOBY took them... he was bad ass... ripping baselines hot hot hot!!!
PVD ... meh. (then again it was the 9th time i have seen him)

Sound system sucked ballz. You could not even feel the base in the Cabannas. I mean don't get me wron, like Josh said earlier, it was one of the better VIP's but you couldn't feel the music, and thats what I was there for.

I thought Moby was the best by far, However that being said he was the only DJ that we were right infront of the stage for, the rest was spent looking for people, and hangin out in the cabannas with friends.

stairs... FUCK stairs

Posted by ReclusNdangrmnt on Jun-30-2008 17:19:

Hey, I had plenty of bars myself :P

But if I would waltz out to the DnB stage and send texts, I'd get responses rather quickly.
