I know he's opened up since. Was interesting to talk to him about how he came to fame.
Maybe if he comes to LA Dave can get him at the new Giant Wed in Phoenix. It's a much shorter trip to the airport for me here. And it hardly ever rains

| Originally posted by R!CH it became quite obvious that james holden's music was not made for hollywood megaclubs. he's an underground dj who plays underground music. underground music rarely works out well in megaclubs because the crowd only has an ear for the mainstream/pop sounds. keep the underground music at the underground venues--it works out better for the whole scene that way. |
undergrounds are just for cutting-edge music
im sorry i ruined your thread!! Holden is perfect in a small, dark intimate club.....
I get caustrophobic in small dark intimate clubs.

to be honest you should be more afraid of large packed clubs. there's more chaos, you have much less control over your environment and you're at greater risk of being trampled/jumped/drugged/robbed/etc by someone you don't know and will never see again (or wouldn't even recognize if you did see again)...
I think he'd be perfect for King King or the upstairs of Vanguard again.
I agree King King would be great.
Alan...you should inquire.
Although I think he's going to be too expensive. We may feel his sound is more underground here, that doesn't make him less of a star around the world. I although think part of the reason he has not been here is because he's been taking some time of to focus on producing. He's a producer first, dj second. He's just so damn taleted he's a much better dj than most of the headliners who mainly dj.

Yes, this thread needs to be revived.
Bring Holden to LA!!
I love the reaction everytime I say meh...
Interesting. Andre and I opened for him a couple years back at Vangaurd upstairs. It was a good night.
But I agree - he needs a bumping room to play w/ good sound.

if he played compression, then that would be guaranteed. But I don't have him on my radar for booking tho.
