I had a good time at Pacha, but I never really liked that place so that much. I guess it was because it was kind of a crappy party. Maybe I need to see a good party at that place to get it.
All this talk of Hernan reminds me that Toronto is due for a Hernan visit. It's been more than 2 years since he's been here, hasn't it?
I'm waiting for you guys to go to a party that really shows you the Ibiza magic. Judging by your posts, you may have had a lot of fun, but I don't think you've seen it yet.

Heading to Space soon...
My off the wall prediction of the night is that sometime tonight I will hear Mylo-No More Conversations within the space complex.
Stay tuned to see if it actually occurs.

It has taken me a little while to be back up to speed and ready to write this, but here we go...
Friday Night
I left Toronto at 11pm and got into London the next morning just after 11am London time. I flew into Heathrow and met Vrk at Stanstead, which is about a 90 minute bus ride away. I was already pretty exhausted at this point but was looking forward to seeing an old friend who I rarely see. I believe that there is nothing better in life than seeing an old friend who's been gone for a long time. Seeing Vrk waiting at the bus stop for me at Stanstead airport added proof for my theory, instantly bringing a tear to my eye.
We had a layover in London for a few hours which meant that by the time we got to Ibiza we had both been travelling for nearly 24 hours. Not exactly well. It would have been nice to get right into our hotel and go to bed but the hotel where we were booked to stay in Playa D'en Bossa (right across the street from Space) didn't have our reservation, despite us having a confirmation number and having already paid a deposit.
We did all of our booking through Ibiza Spotlight. After this experience I would strongly suggest never using them for any sort of booking. We found that they act as a middle man between you and the hotel, then if something goes wrong it is their error so the hotel has no obligation to help you, and Ibiza spotlight does not own up to their mistake or provide you with any support.
The result of this was that we had to go to San Antonio for 2 nights before being able to find another reservation in Playa D'en Bossa for the remaining 12 nights.
Sunday
Staying in San Antonio is not in itself a bad thing, there is a lot to do and it is beautiful...
The problem is that it is far from Space, DC 10, Bora Bora, etc...35 Euro cab rides or 2 bus rides to be exact.
That night we went to see Nic Fanciulli followed by Sasha and Zabiela playing back to back at We Love Space. The party opens at 430, we showed up at 6. There are three main areas at Space...The Discoteca (mainroom), The Terraza (terrace, which is actually another indoor room which used to be an outdoor room), and The Sunset Terrace, which is now more or less what The Terraza used to be before laws changed making it necessary to put a roof over it. Now The Sunset Terrace will be busy during the daytime section of the party before closing at midnight at which point the party heads indoors.
One thing I had underestimated was the tiring effect travelling would have. We had specifically changed our flights to get to Ibiza a couple days earlier in order to go to this We Love Space party and to see Sasha, but were so tired we found it hard to enjoy. We had gone to the party early to experience some of the daytime parts of the party and because we wanted to make sure not to miss Sasha. One part of Ibiza I didnt like was that you never know set times. That meant we were waiting from 6pm-1am for Sasha to come on, and by the time he did we were almost out of gas. We lasted for about half the set but then had to leave.
Tuesday
We decided to stay in Monday night after complications with switching our hotel back to Playa Den Bossa caused us to be a lot later than we expected, missing the entire daytime section of Circo Loco which was the part we really wanted to go to. Knowing that we could go the next week we decided to stay in and rest for Carl Cox closing party on Tuesday. That was the best decision we could have made because after another good nights rest we and our hotel finally in the location where it was supposed to be (across the street from the club) we were in a position to show up at a party and be ready to enjoy it.
The Carl Cox closing party did not disappoint. It was the first time I remember thinking this is what everyone has been talking about. When we arrived Loco Dice was playing. We caught about 3 of his 4 hours, which was easily the highlight of the night. He was playing quite a bit heavier than I normally associate his sound being, which was right up my alley. Carl Coxs entrance was quite impressive. His first three tunes were really hard progressive equally as large as the presence he brought with him to the stage. The rest of his set was not as good as Loco Dice but was still fairly good.
On our way out we stopped to see Evil 9 on the terrace who was quite good. It was a mix of breaks and techno which was a nice change from the much heavier stuff we were hearing in the mainroom.
I will keep writing more over the next couple days.

He woulda fit in MUCH better at Carl Cox's closing before Loco Dice lets say in terms of sound... |
Now that would be intense.
.
In the days following the Carl Cox party we had our best opportunity to do a little exploration. We spent full days wandering around each of Playa Den Bossa, Eivissa and San Antonio. Highlights of our wanderings included stumbling onto a fashion shoot in downtown Eivissa and reenacting a famous moment in Ibiza history not far from Playa Den Bossa.
After partying Tuesday night at Space we didnt actually go to a big party again until the following Saturday. Apart from our wanderings most of our time was spent on Bora Bora beach. Our hotel was located a few kms down the beach from there. Our favourite thing to do would be to walk from our hotel down the beach ending at Bora Bora. Ibiza was the most gorgeous location I have ever been to and walking down the beach felt surreal. It would be hard to imagine a more perfect atmosphere.
One day we just did laps from our hotel down the beach to Bora Bora, in to the town, back to our hotel, refilled our bags with beers, back down the beach to Bora Bora. Repeat.
That was my highlight of the whole trip. As much fun as the parties were, the beach and the Mediterranean was better.
When we would stop to stay at Bora Bora you could either rent the beach chairs for 9 Euros or just bring your own towels and stay there for free, while drinking your own beer.
Being able to sit for free at a beach club while drinking your own beers is awesomeness to its full extent. At night they would eventually put a tarp/wall up around Bora Bora. At this point you were either inside paying for drinks or outside with your own, but up until that point during the day you could stay for free. Bora Bora was the one place that was jam packed with partiers every single day while we were there.
If I had to pick one thing that epitomized Ibiza for me it would be the street walking up to the main entrance of Bora Bora.
It would be full of people with loud music playing either from the apartments above it or the club itself, at all hours of the day.
Saturday
The next party we went to was the Def Mix Party at Pacha on Saturday night. That night was Satoshi Tomei, Hernan Cattaneo and an unnamed dj opening who for the purposes of our story we will call Worlds Worst DJ. As I mentioned in an earlier post he was remarkably similar to Nevio from Sonic. He would play a decent track, mix it into another track that would probably be one of the top five tracks that you should have mixed that track into (not sure if maybe on Beatport theres a tracks you should mix this tune into list and he picked from the bottom thinking it was the top but thats what it sounded like). Then for an extra awesome effect he would just cut the bass out completely, and then at the wrong moment bring it back in completely. Hed turn the volume up really loud, then make it really quiet. Long story short I dont know how some people get the gigs that they do.
Satoshi was an improvement but would go on strange little tangents. That was ok it would be a perfect time to do a little exploring. My favourite part about Pacha was that you could stand on a stage above the dj booth looking down overtop of the dj and main dance floor, watching everything they were doing.
After my third our fourth 10 Euro 300 ml glass bottle of water Hernan finally came on. Where the earlier parts of the evening lacked, the later parts did not. Hernana was really really good, one of the musical highlights of the trip.
From listening to live sets at home I didnt know whether to expect the slightly trancier Hernan or the deeper proggier Hernan. I am happy to report that he played super deep chuggy progressive.
A nice capper to the evening was that a lovely Romanian lady named Rose gave us a ride home in her BMW.
Please tell me you guys ended up makin it out to Circo Loco lol
I've been dying to read the reviews since your little escapades began
