Oh, and to add to my post in page 2.

Many hipsters are fun, laidback. Some are not.

But dont forget hispters are an important of any music scene.

And dont forget we are all a little hipsters of some sort

Sometimes I dress like a hipster, I think its ironic.

They're basically a bunch of judgemental faux bohemian attempted postmodernists, who don't understand it and attempt to cover by using the language... badly.
They also tend to be the first ones to "pick" bands, except the bands they "pick" never actually make an impact.

If someone dresses like a hipster but is out having a blast, you really can't say much. They are having fun, end of story.

I have however, walked by extreme hipsters in the lounge rooms of clubs that were standing on a support beam w/ a smug look on their face..literally just there to be seen. Those peeps can f off. If you're not bringing a good vibe take your tacky outfit and go home

Speaking of judgmental...

Being judgmental is fun. Arguing is fun. I have nothing against hipsters for enjoying those things.

I have no idea what almost everybody has against "being judgmental." I think that having a strong opinion is great, as long as you arrived at it by considered reasoning rather than prejudice.

Oh man, you must be a basically self righteous, narcissistic, naive, cliquey, arrogant nerd.

Hipster.

I fucking hate it when people get labeled as elitist or "hipster" for what you describe above.

Posted by elFreak on Aug-21-2008 16:22:

I've been called a hipster for ordering a nice bottle of wine during a gig in korea. Not my fault everyone else was drinking 2 dollar pints. That really fucking made the beret on my head want to fly off.

Hipsters to me are wannabe Beatniks.

Posted by winston on Aug-21-2008 16:37:

if I were a rockstar dj I'd go with this look

Wall of Sound.

I wonder if coke or heroin would actually be advertised if they became legal.

Can you imagine seeing TV ads with people snorting coke or shooting up?

I could see pot being advertised heavily, though.

this kind of attitude is just as bad as the hipster attitude IMO

some people actually do enjoy talking about things like that

i mean if i went to art school, and i met someone else who went to art school, and it came up in conversation, that's what i would talk about. some people have different lives than you, get over it.

There's nothing wrong with liking those things at all.

Just because I like pop music, I like art that 5 year olds can't make, happy house tarnce, and enjoy summer super hero movies, and hate french existentialist films, and hate arrested development, doesn't mean I'm intellectually inferior/low brow which is what a lot of hipsters seem to think.

It's more that hipsters are putting the hip in hypocrisy. They like fancy, elegant things that rich people love and do, and pretend they're poor, and then drive tons of poor people out of their homes.

I'm not saying that gentrification is wrong or right, i'm just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Hipsters look down on people for "liking art that five year olds can't make?"

I have heard that some hipsters will listen to pop music "ironically," whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.

You know the bullshit post-modern art that a 5 year old could do. Ya know like a big white canvas with a blue pushpin stuck into the middle, etc...
