Trance is #1 because it is the biggest whore in electronic dance music.

2. IMO trance has always been wide. Even tracks called Eurohouse in the 90's now could go for trance (allthough they are different. Liking trance now and listening to old tracks like:

"Capella - U got 2 now" http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=eWXGvvLSPWU or "Capella - U got 2 let the music" http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=QChrD...feature=related

doesn't seem weird at all to me. Back then there just wasn't a "trance" sound yet, but to me it's clear all that started with those Eurohouse tracks.

Just two quick notes:

1. Cappella shits so massively over Basshunter and Cascada that it's not even funny.

2. I've got the impression that currently (considering clubs in my area) shitty commercial house is #1.

Posted by adi_hanson on Oct-14-2008 22:00:

Capella , u got to let the music was on my tape walkman (i was 15 at the time)
What a tune , was the type of music you wore down the tape to barely audible for.
Just like porno on VHS

good times.

And TBH im not bothered that you have to wait for a big trance event to come along. Just that everybody is there because they have waited for the same thing.

makes it that much better i think.

You can go out pretty much anywhere , any nightclub and listen to house throughout the world.

But travelling too and making a day of it is much more thrilling than just going to a nightclub.

Posted by TranceArmstrong on Oct-14-2008 22:17:

trance is number 1 because of emerging artists who have been around for 4 or 5 years like Gareth Emery, Andy Moor, and Kyau vs Albert

Short answer by the way is easy:

There can only be 1.....

there sure hell was a trance sound back then. you haven't seen that Berlin Trance documentary from early 90s?

While Trance > *, I don't think it's #1. In terms of EDM, homo-erotic house is the most popular, at least in the states

WTF is home house. Cmon , what a shitty come back. Can you feeble come up with something better than. "you are gay". You fail at dissing a genre and you fail at a come back.

whooops, typo dude. fixed it, good catch. I'm not dissing any genre, just corny house that you hear at every bar/lounge/club across america, didn't know you were that big of a fan of Madonna remixes.

You ever leave your room? I'm talking about every club in the us that plays the NYC Undergroud CD on loop. It's not that hard you fags. jesus

Posted by ownymcown on Oct-15-2008 03:48:

I don't think trance is number one. It has a large, enthusiastic following, which is why Armin and Tiesto are able to fill up huge venues wherever they go. However, house has a much more widespread and commercial appeal; most clubs will be playing house every night as opposed to trance. There are much more serious fans of trance than there are of house, and this is why the top djs on djmag get so many votes, that and the fact that very few house djs can seem to achieve the rock-star status that a trance dj can.

but the serious answer is that dj tisto is the best and trance is numba one forever!!

I think he's referring to shitty house that guys like David Guetta play. But most places that play that garbage are the places that play like a mix top 40/hip-hop/shit house. You know what I'm talking about.

Anyhow trance is nowhere near number 1 in terms of quality edm. You'll have to go elsewhere for that.

+1...this is easily the biggest reason imo

Perhaps he means the Louie Devito CDs?

I used to see these sold everywhere, back when NYC style banging tribal house was all the rage in these parts. Every single guido would bump this stuff in his car out here on the Island.

Sure, but not many knew or have seen that back then. Record stores didn't sell that underground music.
I don't think trance would have spread so wide without Eurohouse or the German Techno.

Posted by delusional on Oct-16-2008 21:14:

anymore thought on trance ? Or why there is sooooo much bad trance
